Technically this is Mark Stein and not Blazersedge, but either way it does pretty much nothing for me.

So, he's "optimistic" because he's "hoping for a resolution at some point"? That isn't exactly the adjective I'd use to describe the quote presented. "Frustrated" fits just as well, if not better.

Roy and Aldridge aren't going anywhere. Negotiations like this happen with almost every player, its part of the business.

No they don't. Not at all actually

Most of the time when a top ten player is up for a contract, the team tries to lock him up for as long as it can and the player wants a shorter deal (Lebron, Wade, Bosh). In this situation, the player wants to be locked up, but the team doesn't want to sign him for as long as he wants to be here for, or at least they want the option of him being here.

Roy is a top ten guy, and there really isn't any excuse for him not to have been signed on July 8th. There are some players in the league that you just sign fr as long as they want to sign for. Roy is one of those players.

You don't remember the Kobe Bryant contract negotiations? He called Buss an idiot. Roy will get his money, LA will too. Its just a matter of time.

As good as K*be might be, he doesn't equal "almost every player". And K*be called Buss an idiot because he didn't max his guy out. Sound familiar?

I just wonder how these negotiations go, because this doesn't seem like rocket science.

    KP: 4 years! :pimp:

    Roy's Agent: 5 years with player option!:drumroll:

Then they sit there and stare at each other in silence for 8 hours waiting for one side to blink? WTF?

    Heh.

I've been thinking the same thing. What is there to negotiate? Where is the middle ground in that scenario?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
5 years guaranteed. 3 guaranteed years plus a player option year. 4 guaranteed years and a player option year, but for less money per year.

Seems like there are various in-betweens in terms of guaranteed years, player options and money.

Obama said the economy is starting to recover and the recession has bottomed out.

    Sign the man!

It means that the Blazers, like any business, would rather get the best deal they can negotiate. :)

    July 18th.

You should try this website called google.com, I think it's going to catch on.

    July 18, 2008 . . . and Deron's negotiations didn't go smoothly. Chris Paul's extention went pretty smoothly . . . signed extention around July 8, 2008.

If I remember the story last year, Deron had to come out and sy if he doesn't sign an extention by end of July, he planned on testing out the free agent market. Maybe Roy should do the same thing. :dunno:
