So by that logic, all the threads started by OdenIsGod are worth commenting on. They get responses, just like this one has. I suppose we could come up with a list of unlikely, worst-case scenarios and start threads about them semi-regularly. We haven't had a thread about the Blazers being sold in a while. It's been a long time since a Blazer did something stupid (off the court), we could start a thread about that. I'm sure you could help me with more ideas.
Ahhhh, good point! Now that Bill Gates is retired from Microsoft I wonder if Allen can get him to be team president?
This would be a solid point except for the fact that I have literally started one thread about the Roy contract talks prior to this thread, and that thread was created 18 days ago. So, what's your point? Some posters said they wouldn't worry until August 1st. It's August 1st, and I started a thread dedicated to that date. What is the problem?
*yawn* Where's that allegedly impending Brandon Roy statement that some people got so worked up about? Ed O.
Ok, I'll bite. I think I said I would start to worry if he hadn't been extended by 8/1/09. If KP isn't making any trades, what else is he doing? It is a little perplexing, but at the same time I have no control over this at all, so I am not going to bother getting worked up about it. It seems like the negotiations are still amicable. Let me just throw this out there, "KP, if you looking for an out of shape 6'2 power forward who has below average basketball skills, then I am willing to sign the 4 year deal!"
You know what blows me away is, a few years ago, Paul Allen stepped in and ensured Darius Miles got signed. But he won't do the same thing for Roy? Nut up Paul. It's time to take some control back.
How'd that work out for him? Hopefully, if he DID insert himself into the process, he learned from that mistake. There's simply no reason for him to step in now, two years before Brandon Roy will potentially be an unrestricted free agent, and ensure that Roy signs an extension. Ed O.
Nope your missing the whole point. That would have worked out had it not been Darius Miles. At no point in his career can you say that Darius Miles has done for this franchise what Brandon Roy has done. It is night and day. You do not seem to get the fact that when players do not get extensions offered timely they take that as an affront. Look what happened in Chicago when they decided to let a bunch of their guys go for free agency. It completely fucked up one season, and the following season the players under scrutiny played, but they didn't play with their heart for the team. They played for a contract or played to end their contract and get the fuck out of town. Try learning from history yourelf Ed O. Darius Miles will never ever be 1/10th the player or man that Brandon Roy is. Two completely different situations.
Its August and ROY is still NOT signed Its gonna be a sad day when ROY finally snaps and leaves Portland. thanks a lot KP!!!!!!!!!
Re: Its August and ROY is still NOT signed yeah...I actually think exclamation points are in order for this....Hope hes worth the max
Re: Its August and ROY is still NOT signed If he's not nobody is!!!!!!!!!!! He should get hi s player options too and a brand new maserati car just for being dicked with
Whether they're the same player or not isn't really relevant, since they're not going to be asking for or receiving the same contract. If Roy's people wanted Darius money (topping out at $9m per) then the deal would be done. Guaranteed. But he wants max dollars max years, reportedly. Whatever he wants, it's more than the front office, right NOW, wants to give him. You bring up Paul Allen stepping in to give Miles what he wanted (which was, presumably, more than the front office then was willing to give) and I argue that it would be the same kind of mistake. Paul Allen has hired people to run the team for him. I can understand why he wants to be involved and I think that he SHOULD be a part of the process... but I think that if he short-circuited the process to interfere with the Miles extension it was CLEARLY a mistake and I think that it could very well be a similar mistake if he steps into the middle of the Brandon Roy negotiations and simply hands Roy whatever he wants. Ed O.
Honestly we should just trade roy now for von wafer, a bunch of idiots will have heart attacks and stop clogging the boards, and life will return to normal.
