http://lakers.freedomblogging.com/2009/08/01/next-up-kobe-bryant/21149/ Any chance Kobe signs the extension on a discount?
I doubt we get a discount. For one thing, agents run these negotiations, and the more money they get their client, the more they get paid. Second, and more importantly, Kobe has never, ever given any indication that it wasn't about him first and foremost. Remember when he almost left us out to pasture by nearly signing with the Clippers even after we mortgaged our future by trading Shaq? I love him on the basketball court, but he is no Tim Duncan or Steve Nash -- and that's not meant as a knock on Kobe, it's just that Duncan and Nash really are pretty exceptional in this regard among non-NHL professional athletes.
Yeah, I know. Kobe has never indicated that he is willing to take a paycut. But still, I am hoping for it. LOL
