It appears to me that you are placing victim status on those whose opinions are being disagreed with. That's markedly different than countering an argument with another substantive point. Ed O.
I don't see how calling people irrational or lacking business sense for having an opinion is a substantive point, but of course you would direct your post at me.
By the way, where does criticizing the person criticizing the person criticizing the original poster line up in the "substantive" parade?
I'm not saying the scenario you listed above is impossible, but I don't find it likely. I don't think a max type player has ever done such a thing. Ben Gordon is the best player to have pull such a stance, but he wasn't even a starter. It just seems so unlikely to me.
I think he's a big boy and can answer the question on his own. Thanks for trying to help. I'd like to continue the discussion with Yuyuza because he's expressing his opinions more than trying to take apart snipits of my posts, dramatizing them, or making them parts of his sig.
We're having a discussion about discussions. I am telling you why your act of complaining about the big bad people who pick on you is different than disagreeing about substantive topics. Ed O.
I don't understand why any one is taking this hoopsworld report seriously. This is the same website that about three weeks ago had their senior editor lie about what one of their writers was doing and then got told by that writer in the comments section not to throw his reputation away just to make news.
See, there's that condescension again. yuyuza really nailed it. I wasn't complaining about people picking on me. I was commenting on another poster's spot-on post on this board about behavior. You seem to be the best example of that behavior, for what it's worth. Is this you being "objective", Ed? Seems a bit emotional to me.
Since the negotiation story got dragged into this thread I thought I'd just post that here instead of going back to the other thread.
Noted, but I'm going to guess that Tellen's agency is leaking this stuff to somebody, so I won't completely disregard it.
Why would Arn Tellum, the most power house agent in basketball, leak news to HOOPSWORLD? Arn Tellum pretty much gets what he wants, and he doesn't get it by leaking contract details to websites that are mockingly called Poopsworld by a good portion of the BIC that know about it. If this news was going to be leaked it would be leaked to the news sources that would be somewhat trusted and also rile up the main fan base that would help LMA and Roy which would be ours. So it would be leaked to The Oregonian, ESPN, or SI - not hoopsworld.
Oooh okay, I couldn't tell about the on topic comment so I just wanted to clear up why I had posted it in this thread instead of the other one.
I didn't say Tellum, I said his agency, and I said "somewhere". Why leak it there? I haven't an idea, but that doesn't mean it is completely fabricated.
It's cool. At this point I'm just trying to drown out the noise and I really appreciate your perspective. You might want to save yourself some time and not get involved in a no win situation.
To be fair, you pretty much instigated the noise, but I'll drop it at this point. That's the way the board is operating, so I'll just go with the flow.
Okay but the point still stands. Tellum along with his agency, Wasserman Media Group, are the most powerful in basketball. They would gain nothing by leaking this to Hoopsworld, a website that again had a senior editor lie about what one of his writers was going to publish and was admonished by said writer. There are a lot of weird things that don't make sense at first sight but eventually do, but I would wager this is highly unlikely to be one of them.
