Me: getting residual checks forever without having to work; Bones playing on TNT 4 times a day and going into syndication in the fall

    Game. Set. Match.

    How does that work Eric?

You can pm me if you want, but I have always wondered how residual checks work? Are they based on what you made per episode, or negotiated in the contract?

No doubt. I was in a VISA ad back in college. I "played" a Chicago Bear fan with my face painted. I'd get random checks for 2-3 years afterward since that ad stayed in rotation for quite some time.

I wasn't an actor, BTW. I was "spotted" at a bar and asked to show up one morning. Free money!

No speaking role. I was screaming, along with the other "fans", but the announcer was talking over us. It was in the early '90s, so I can't even find the ad on Youtube. I got a minimal amount to be in the ad, and then a check would show up every few months for roughly $400-$500. Big (beer?) money for a starving student!

No extension yet. Given what LA will make after it gets signed I'd rather be him than you. There's no doubt in my mind it will get done.

But I do know about those reruns. My wife was sick towards the end of June and while she was recuperating at home she got hooked on the show and it now clogs up my DVR. I'm still trying to figure out how Zack became the gorgonzola's apprentice.

In the meantime shall we not rejoice in signing of BRoy?!

What show were you on, and what character were you? I'm curious now.

He was on Small Wonder. He played Jaime, the son (or brother of Vicky the Robot).

Dear Lord. That was a terrible show.

If he were that actor I would abuse my Producer powers and permaban his ass.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I liked the show. Though, I was pretty young. 7 years old or so when it started...didn't watch it regularly or the whole run, though.

She was small but could do incredible things! And talked like a robot.

Mediocre Man- the answer is I Have No Idea. I've talked to the head of my agency and it's a long response that still leaves me not understanding it. It has to do with the show making it's money back first and then a certain amount being doled out to the actors but then not receiving it until a year after the fact, etc. In short, it's complicated and makes no sense to me. What I do know, is that I have started getting some sizeable checks. One for foreign residuals and one for cable and DVD residuals. I think these checks will continue to come for some time. Syndication starts this fall and I will be receiving checks for that. But I have no idea what the formula is and how it is calculated. No idea whatsoever. You'd think I should know this.
