The New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 8-4. Sergio Mitre started but got a no decision. Alfredo Aceves got the win.

While watching the Yankees game, I was already thinking ahead to the Red Sox series. I was feeling pretty good that Mitre wouldn’t face them.

The Yankees have the highest payroll in baseball and Mitre is their 5th starter? Couldn’t we have Kei Igawa do the same thing Mitre does? I have to admit, tonight was a better than usual “Mitre” outing. He still couldn’t make it through five innings.

Aceves put out the fire in the 5th.

Vernon Wells went to the bank on Johnny Damon in the top of the sixth..

Out of all the players to tie the game in the seventh inning, it was Nick Swisher.

Jeter was over powered in the same inning. I was amazed by it for some reason.

Matsui shouldn’t of been thrown out at home plate in the seventh inning. For some reason, Barajas was way in front of home plate and he couldn’t handle the ball. Bad play by him.

The Blue Jays bull pen stinks.

The magic inning for the Yankees seems to be the seventh inning.

The Yankees are just too good for the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays have no chance at the division this year or the wild card for that matter.

I really like watching Phil Hughes pitch. I also like watching Melky catch the ball in the outfield. What can I say? I like watching Yankee farm hands.

I can’t believe this. I forgot to start Johnny Damon two days in a row in fantasy baseball. Things like this piss me off.

I’m glad Joe didn’t bring in Mariano in the 9th when it became a save situation because the Yankees will need him for Boston.

Bottom Line: Yankees took care of the Blue Jays and didn’t look towards the Boston series. That was great professionalism by them.

Player of the Game: Johnny Damon. He had some big hits. I thought his hits were bigger than Swisher’s.
