But dude you are being a pussy. That is not a personal attack, you said it first. I am just saying. This is online bro. You need to man up and not be afraid of someone threatening you online. Seriously bro. I feel bad for you. What would your girlfriend say if you told her that you are afraid of threats being made to you, on a FUCKING BLAZER BASKETBALL FORUM?!?!? Would she feel safe around you?! lmfao wow
I voted for the mods to handle it for two reasons stated below. First the threatener would have to actually know who the threatenee is. For example, my name isn't really LittleAlex. If you tried to find me through that name, you would be disappointed. Second, the act of making threats on a message board is an inherently cowardly one. The threatener would probably not follow through even if they knew who they threatened. I don't mean to discount the danger an unhinged lunatic poses to others. It's just that those types of people are a very small minority in a society that mostly plays by the rules. It seems to me that it is up to site to deal with such cowardly losers as they see fit. Maybe by probation or banning.
Nobody did anything to me. I have watched this community fold up before and be moved only to have the same issues come up once more. Now I see a threat to the board again in the way somethings are being dealt with. Since this is one of the best Blazer forums, I would like to keep it that way. I don't see anywhere that I made the statement that someone was threatening me.
No it's not. While it may be viewable by the general public, it is privately owned and operated. Nope, again. Those who own this site can decide who gets to participate. They own the site and they can block the IP address of anyone they wish, for any reason they wish. They own the site, they make the rules and they enforce the rules. Paricipating here is a privilege that can be revoked by those who pay the bills. Play by the rules, their rules, or get banned. It's as simple as that. BNM
Let the mods do their job. They know the rules and it's their job to enforce them. Posting here should not be a popularity contest. Those who voice dissenting opinions should not just be tolerated, they should be embraced. Without opposing opinions, there isn't a whole lot to talk about. Now, I do agree that some posters are total attention junkies and blatant trolls. The ONLY reason they post is to get a reaction. For them, there is the ignore feature. I recommend using it at your discretion. If you don't, please DO NOT RESPOND TO THE TROLLS . Responding gives them exactly what they so desparately crave - attention. Ignore them, they will get bored and go eslewhere for their attention fix. The next time one of these trolls starts a thread, I would LOVE to see ZERO responses. Feed them and they will just keep coming back for more. It's your choice. BNM
At the end of the day, the moderators and admins do what the community wants--Even though some of you may not believe it. If the majority of the community has a problem with a specific member that person in question will be handled. As they say, one rotten apple spoils the whole barrel, batch, tree, community--I have no fucking idea.
Basically the truth, but the privilege goes both ways. What's owned is machinery and software. It isn't much without people who take advantage that it's there. So you have the privilege of posting here, we have the privilege of having you here. Pretty fair deal. Our rules are our rules, sure, but I think they're the most generous anywhere on the Internet. As for the rest, S2 is a public/open site. If we start picking and choosing who we allow as members, then it becomes a sort of closed club.
It's pretty sad to me that someone is trying to rationalize threatening other people based off of it being online. Like using the internet means it's ok to be an ass. Maybe I'm weird for thinking things I say online should be things I'd be willing to say in person.
My great idea would be to have made this poll a public poll, so we could see which people believe in free speech within the TOS, and which people want to censor those that they disagree with.
So, a "strong community" has no social outcasts? Mob rule isn't the answer. People thought Galileo was crazy, I'm sure. If one poster bothers you so much, that seems like a tolerance problem on your side.
Just post and let the mods sort it out. As for putting things to a vote and all of that other shite, that's way more effort or thought than I want to put into my Blazer fan, message board nerd experience. On the subject of a certain "disruptive" member of the community being threatened via a PM, that's on the person issuing the threats, the one receiving them can hardly be held accountable for that. Secondly, the whole threatening people through an anonymous forum is not only laughable, but cowardly -- unless they are saying to their target "I live at 123 homestreet avenue, Portland OR, I'll be waiting for you," -- otherwise, please shut the fuck up and keep your false tough-guy fantasies to yourself, because it will be painfully clear to whomever you threaten (or should be) that you are full of shit.
