What team has the best bench? The Spurs have been having a pretty silent season overall, and they bench has gone almost un-noticed,they have unknown players who bring energy to the floor.
Good topic. I say Heat and Spurs all have great benches. Gary Payton is a savvy vet who has done it all before. He is still a good defender with his age. He can still shoot his jumper a little bit and he provides on court leadership. Walker is a guy who is capable of scoring 17 a night. He is a good shooter and has good court awareness and scoring mentality. Kapono is a good role shooter. Alonzo Mourning before he got injured was a defensive beast for the Heat. Averaging 3 bpg off the bench is simply amazing. He did that and brought good vet leadership.Spurs have a vet bench. Michael Finley is a good defender and a good role leader and shooter off the bench. Same deal with Brent Barry. Robert Horry is considered very clutch in the playoffs. He currently holds a full hand of rings. He is a good role shooter. Nazr is a good Center. He is a good rebounder and shot blocker. He could start on a team like the Raps but he is good for the Spurs off the bench.
The Milwaukee Bucks have a great bench. PG Charlie Bell, PG/SG Maurice Williams, SG Jiri Welsch, PF Joe Smith, PF Toni Kukoc and C Dan Gadzuric.
Charlie Bell is the man! triple double tonight. If the Spurs' team could stay healthy, they would without a doubt be the best.
The mavs have the best bench when healthy. Harris, Daniels, Griffin, Powell, Dampier, Mbenga, Van Horn and Armstrong. San Antonio is second best.
i think the Mavericks have the best bench as well. Stackhouse, Dampier, Harris, Daniels, and Van Horn could easily start for other teams in the league. You can also make a case that Mbenga, Powell, and Armstrong are the best 11th, 12th, and 13th men in the league. I'd say that Mbenga is the most talented 3rd string center in the league.
hahah, how did i know you would pick the mavs. they aren't even at the top dude. SA: NVE, Udrih, Barry, Finley, Horry, NazrMIA: DA, Gary Payton, AW, Zo, Anderson.MIL: Bell, Williams, Gadzuric, Smith, Welsch.DAL: Harris, Daniels, Dampier, Stack. Grif starts when healthy and Armstrong and Mbenga don't do much at all. Armstrong may be an emotional leader, but i'm talking about actual contributions on the court.

Also, like baller said Nazr is starting, Rasho is the one coming off the bench now.And DA has won us a couple games with his play off the bench, ie. Raps game one of them. Also, there was a stretch where Mavs bench outscored their opponent's by double. I'd take them over Bucks easy. I don't mind Spurs/Heat because their benches are pretty good, but their all close.
I think I might give this one to Milwaukee. Ive always been worried when playing the Bucks about Kukoc coming of the bench, to this day he always seems to have big games when we play them. Mo Williams is obviously a great player off the bench, one of the leading 6th man candidates, and Charlie Bell, Gadzuric and Joe Smith get the job done in reserve roles, as well. They may not be the most talented bench unit, nor the one with the big name players, but I find them to be very effective and dangerous..
Funny how anyone that aren't mavs fans won't give Dallas credit for anything. This is the one thing they clearly are the best in the league in and still people discredit them.

I don't know if this is true (and I'm wayyyyy too lazy to research it), but it's a possibility that should at least be considered.
Dallas has 3 players that are 6th man players. Harris, Stackhouse, and Dampier. Right now only Dampier is on the bench but for most the year the other 2 were on the bench playing a 6th man role.
See that's the problem as Mavs fans, anytime we want to give them credit for something that they can actually lay claim too, like the best bench, we get shot down as homers. But really, everyone will pick their teams bench, so this isn't really a judge of it.All I know is that the Mavs have been called the deepest team all year by anyone who knows what they are talking about, and until the recent rash of injuries the Mavs suffered, noone could come close. But you know what, it was our bench and depth that helped us keep pace with the Spurs without four of our key players, including 2 starters. But to be fair, SA and Miami do have good benches too, just not up to par with the Mavs this year. And guys, get off Milwaulkee. There's no way in this world that a team that's barely over .500, in a weak(er) conference, has the best bench. Well maybe the 4th best bench, which is pretty good considering Milwaulkee wasn't even supposed to get a playoff seed this year.
Here is my list of best benches with key players:1. San Antonio (Micheal Finley)2. Miami (Alonzo Mourning, when healthy)3. Milwaukee (Maurice Williams)4. Dallas (Jerry Stackhouse) They would be higher but guys are in and out of the starting line-up.5. Detroit (Antonio McDyess)
Detroit isn't in the top 5 best bences, as a matter of fact their Bench is the Pistons weakness. And the Mavs as the 4th best bench, unbelievable. And the comment makes no sense, that's what a good bench is for. Whne there are injuries or struggles, the bench players step up, and your using that as a reason to have the Mavs so low.I guess the Mavs have to win a championship to get more respect than Milwaulkee, or Miami for that matter, and they haven't won a title either.
The Pistons bench is not their weakness. That was the view early in the season, but since getting Tony Delk, and in mid-season getting Lindsay Hunter back there is no way you can say we have a weak bench. Delk can hit jumpers from all over the court and is a good on ball defender.Hunter is considered by some, not just Piston people but ESPN announcers and analysts as one of the best on-ball defenders in the league, and can hit the three ball.Maurice Evans is a hustle player who can attack the rim and will dive for loose balls, and he is also a good three point shooter.Antonio McDyess is a sixth man of the year candidate. He can score inside and out and can board with the best of them. He also has the occasional shot-block.Carlos Delfino is a good slasher, passer, and shooter. He also brings great energy off our bench.Dale Davis is a scrappy rebounding center and a good solid shot blocker. If those players make a bad bench in your opinion maybe you should second guess yourself.

McDyess si the only one that could actually start for another team. Not top 5 material.I gotta go with the Dallas Mavericks
