Did you know the great Ted Williams was half-Mexican? I had no idea until I watched his HBO doc. **can a mod fix the title?

Portland and Bend, OR are the only 2 contiguous US cities built w/extinct volcanoes inside their city limits.
that one is more than a little debatable. portland and bend may be the only large cities in the lower 48 with easily recognizable large standing geologically recent volcanic structures entirely within city limits, but there are other less obvious more eroded volcanic remnants and extinct vents all over the place in oregon, wash, and northern cal many within limits of different cities.

LOL! That's not my wife (she's a blonde) and I have a son, not a daughter. That photo was sent to me a few years ago by a buddy of mine. I think he pulled it off the internet. I thought it was one of the funniest and unfortunate photos I had ever seen.
The US budget was $200B in 1969. It was a balanced budget, too. It was LBJ's last budget, and it was called "guns and butter" because it not only funded the massive Vietnam War, but also a slew of new social programs. This year's US budget is nearly $4,000,000,000,000. It was under $2,000,000,000,000 when Clinton left office. 2x in 8 years and 20x in 40 years. The Marshall Plan cost $11B to rebuild most of Europe after WW II. NASA's budget last year was nearly 2x that.
