really? so then every other athlete in the sport has to ruin their body to keep up with the competition? That sounds like a pretty messed up league to me, think of baseball if the players were allowed to take it, there would be 2-3 clean guys per lineup per team MAX
Which many players and reporters have been saying was the case in the late-90s/early-00s. The line between "healthy" and "unhealthy" supplements to get the most out of one's body is fairly blurry. I'm not entirely sure where the line should be drawn, or even if one should be. Up to high school, I understand laws against it...regulating what children can do has merit. I'm somewhat willing to let adults make their own choices for their bodies.
OK, so you would be more upset if KP traded for this guy than the anal rapist? It's good to slowly get a ranking of the mortal offenses, per Maris.
What HGH does isn't help his shooting stroke. You still have to be able to shoot. Bonds can have all the power he wants, but he still has to have great hand eye coordination to hit the ball. HGH provides metabolic benefits such as helping the body burn more fat than usual, and serves as a protein-sparing agent as well. Taking HGH triggers the release of fatty acids from fat stores and the body winds up burning more fat than carbohydrates to meet energy requirements. And testosterone when used in normal doses, in conjunction with HGH is an extremely potent supplement cocktail from which any athlete would benefit greatly. In other words, HGH can keep his legs fresher late in games to shoot 3's more consistantly. He could, if he chose to, work harder on defense without it affecting his shooting as well.
except they aren't just adults. They are employees of a very large company, and if the company says this and this are illegal, you can't do them. If you do, you should be fired, that's how i see it anyway. They are cheaters, and bad employees. They make themselves, and the company look bad
I agree with that. If there are rules against something and you're caught breaking those rules, be prepared to suffer the consequences. I'm just saying that, philosophically, I'm not that wound up about steroids/HGH and wouldn't mind pro sports rules against them being removed.
It can also help Sylvester Stallone make Rambo IV which is the number one reason why it should be banned.
i just can't believe you'd be okay with it. It would basically required every young kid with some real athletic talent to ruin his body just to be a pro. The amount of people it would damage would be outrageous as well. We'd have kids start doing this at 16 just so they can get looked at because of all the big guys playing well past their natural primes because they are juicing. It would ruin all of pro sports, and not to be too dramatic, but to a point, our society. All our young athletes would be exposed to tons of health risks, both mental and physical. I just can't imagine this ever being okay.
Not "kids," unless you refer to young adults as kids, which I don't. The negative effects of steroids aren't hidden at all, they've been widely publicized. If an adult wants to take those risks to go further, faster and higher, that's their call. This doesn't even have the "But what if he/she kills someone else?" concern of legalizing other behaviour modifying drugs. People ruin their health in other jobs, like corporate climbers who go without sleep, exercise and ignore their health in order to work the hours necessary to get the promotions and raises they're after. Conceptually, I don't see any real difference. Some people value professional success over their health, some don't. I've already said that I'm fine with laws making such drugs illegal for children (people under the age of 18, or wherever society wants to set age for being legally considered an adult). I disagree. No more so than legal supplements have, or "accepted" use of illegal drugs (like the candy dishes full of amphetamines in MLB club houses) have. Nutrition and training have constantly evolved over the years, and there are plenty of dangerous supplements that are legal. Until recently, for example, ephedra was a legal supplement for pro athletes and it was much more dangerous and deadly than steroids. It's now generally banned, after some high profile deaths, but it wasn't the only legal, dangerous supplement. So, do you feel pro sports are currently ruined? I think that's extremely melodramatic.
Phooey. PEDs should be mandatory. These guys make millions; they should be required to be the best they can be!
I think it's more of a moral/federal law thing at this point and sports are just playing the good shepherd part.
