That'd be good for the MW division, but if he's going to be a bitch and not fight Machida this is pointless. That's the fight everyone wants to see.
What Demian Maia is able to do with Nate Marquardt will go a long way to deciding if Anderson will move up, I think. He will still probably rematch Dan Henderson.
Hendo said he wil lbe fighting anderson next, that they told him he would be.. am i the only one who thinks maia doesnt really have a shot against silva? he has shown no stand up and every fight starts standing up. i know he is a great submission artist but first he has to get close to anderson and take him donw. and idk if youve noticed lately but getting close to anderson is a very bad thing to do.
Maia shouldn't be able to get Marquardt down. If he can somehow, and win, or if he shows some stand-up, then a fight with Silva will be viable.
Oh yea I know.. I'm just saying I've heard people say "well wait anderson hasn't fought Maia yet" and I just don't see Maia being a problem at all. I might be wrong but I feel Maia would be one of the easier opponents in the ufc for Anderson.
If Maia fights Silva his only chance of winning would be a flying scissors leg take down into ankle lock a la Ryo Chonan.
Maia vs. Silva would be so fucking boring. I would like to see him vacate the title to move up, only if he was willing to fight Machida. I don't want to see him move up and fight without intentions of getting the belt. Hendo for MW champ :]
Ed Soares, Silva's manager, has denied that they intend on vacating the middleweight title at this time.
