Did he have a fight? What was it, 20 seconds? More like a warm up against Arlovski. We'll see I guess.
I know he is a heavyweight, but do you know anything about him in between his fights? Does he let himself go? Eat a lot? Drink a lot? Or is he strict about his routines and shit? I'd love to see that fight, though. Werdum obviously would have a huge advantage on the ground.
Werdum got his clock cleaned by dos Santos, though. He's got some trouble if he can't get it to the ground right away.
GracieFighter is reporting that Joe Riggs has withdrawn from his fight with Nick Diaz. Phil Baroni is a possible replacement. So out of four title fights now we may only get two (with Overeem out as well).
New possible opponents for: Nick Diaz: Jay Heiron, Paul Daley Fabricio Werdum: Gilbert Yvel, Paul Buentello, Ben Rothwell
Babalu vs Musasi got picked up by strikeforce for their Aug 15th event, The LHW strap on the line. I am excited for that one.
Josh Thompson may not be healed and ready to go for the Strikeforce event. That's three proposed title fights put in limbo so far.
I'm as excited as can be about the Mousasi/Babalu fight, especially with the other three fights in jeopardy like they are. It was the fight I was most looking forward to at the next Affliction PPV, and now is the one I'm most looking forward to on the Strikeforce PPV coming up. Looking around I think Babalu is the most underrated fighter in the LHW division, I'm surprised at how quickly people on MMAjunkie are writing him off in this fight. I believe he will give Mousasi all that he can handle in this fight, I still ultimately find Gegard the winner, but I think he comes out very well tested in this fight.
M-1 Global's "Breakthrough" will take place August 28th in Kansas City, Mo.. The main event has changed from Lawal vs. Frye to Lawal vs. Mark Kerr. Gegard Mousasi and Fedor Emelianenko will have some kind of exhibition match at the event, possibly grappling or sparring.
Fedor's first opponent in Strikeforce could be Ricco Rodriguez. Wow... that is not good. What would Fedor be in that fight, -1200? -2000? Terrible matchmaking and a waste of Fedor's fight contract if that is what Strikeforce is coming up with. Fedor doesn't need a fucking tune-up. Put him in with Overeem for the title or don't waste our time. And frankly, even Overeem isn't a great fight.
