Who will have more success this year for Bay Area Sports? San Francisco Giants currently in the Wild Card hunt? San Francisco 49ers with a full season of Mike Singletary? Golden State Warriors with plenty of young talent?
This year? I guess I'd have to say Giants (understanding that fewer MLB teams make it into the playoffs than NBA teams, therefore it's a greater accomplishment just to make the post-season). Next year or two I might go with Warriors. Anyway yeah, I am definitely down with going all youth movement this year, even though I don't think Nelson will. I say play the hell out of them and let's see what we have and get them experienced and conditioned for when they need to really make a push starting next year. If it were up to me Randolph would get 30+ minutes, Morrow would get 25+, Curry and Wright would get 20+, and Azubuike would see his minutes decline substantially from last year (maybe to ~10-15), but that's probably not realistic with Nelson.
Definitely Giants, because they're already 2/3 of the way there, and are vying for 1st place in the Wild Card. I would have said GS before the start of MLB, but the Giants have surprised everyone so far. Basically, with all 3 teams, it's "I'll believe it when I see it," and so far we've only seen the Giants but it's believable...
I was ready to say the Giants, but had second thoughts after the Giants could not erase a three run deficit tonight at home. I think they only came back once this season from three runs down. We got to take two out of three now from the Dodgers because they have been struggling themselves. The offense is a skosh better, but man we could use a power stick! We got Joe Martinez going on the mound tomorrow. Who's Joe Martinez? LOL.
Yeah, you're right, I couldn't believe when they showed that statistic. Over 110 games, and only once? How is that even possible? Maybe they haven't faced a lot of 3-run deficits? Maybe most games have been tight? Well, it's pretty much certain that, if they get down 3 runs (like last night), it's over.
Actually, I'm pretty sure the Giants have only come back from even a TWO run or greater deficit once this year...Whiteside's grand slam. Pathetic. If we could only give the Giants some of the Warriors offense and give the Warriors some of the Giants defense (pitching), we might have something here. We may have the two most unbalanced pro teams.
I think the 49ers will do the best. The Western Division is too difficult in the NBA. The Giants are doing great. But the NFL is crazy with its parity. I mean the Arizona Cardinals made it to the Super Bowl last year. I like their new coach. Though I have thought betting on the Giants to win the WS at about 30 to 1 odds (if I remember correctly the numbers I was looking at) would had been a fun bet.
I dunno, what do you guys think? "The future is now" implies we have ownership and people in the organization with the vision to make a better future for this franchise. I think it's business as usual for the Warriors organization. They don't care about winning. And if they did, they don't know how anyway. It's the same repeated mistakes it seems like. It's either salary cap issue, bad signings, or a flawed architecture of how the team is supposed to function. It is no wonder we can't attract good free agents. They just don't want to come here despite it being a great basketball market. We also lose because we have no anchors on this team and we don't play with enough team strategy. But you know, maybe in the nba, there is no concept of an organized team, only a collection of 1-2 franchise superstars + their supporting players to fill in the cracks. So why is it, that we just can't seem to make the most of the lottery and get that superstar? We get the 5-10 pick which is absolutely no good if we time our draft positioning in a way where we get the high pick in a shallow draft and the later picks in a in a deep draft. Very frustrating
