Surpising....didnt see it coming....I also dont see him being able to play QB there, so it really doesnt make a lot of sense....
I don't get it either. I'm just happy that we added "Michael" "Vick" But yeah, makes no sense. I hated Vick before but I guess I have to like him now that he's an Eagle. Honestly I don't know how I should feel right now, but I like the signing for whatever reason. We could use the wildcat offense here and there and incorporate Vick, that's what I heard the Patriots were planning on doing.
Ummm...I'm confused about this move a bit, but having a guy like McNabb could help Vick. Definitely confused why Vick would sign w/ the Eagles. My only guess could be it was the only multi-year deal he was offered.
What I dont get is they invested like a 2nd round pick on Kevin Kolb 2 or 3 years ago to backup McNabb. Now they bring in Vick as the #2 and Kolb to #3. By the time you let Kolb play he is going to be near his free agent years, and will leave for not believing in him.
Everybody and their momma knew Kolb was a horrible pick, well everyone except Andy. Vick only signed a 2 year deal, with the 2nd year being a team option, so it's not like he'll be here long term, at least I don't think he will be. Kolb is terrible anyways. In the very few minutes he's played in the NFL, he's looked absolutely putrid. His bad performance at training camp this summer didn't make matters any better. I'm pretty sure he's a bust, a wasted pick.
If it was my team, I would be excited too....I don't think it is in his personality to sabotage the team like TO, so I see this as a low risk, high reward venture.
The contract certainly works to the Eagles benefit. It's basically peanuts for this year, with a team option for next year at around $5mill. If he shows anything at all, they have to opportunity to keep him around or trade him. The logic is simple. Philly now has the best (and only decent) backup QB in the NFC East and it cost them barely anything. I've been following the Giants training camp, and I can tell you that they're absolutely fucked if Eli goes down for any significant amount of time. Dallas faced the same problem last year.
Hes the perfect backup because he doesnt need a game plan to be successful....having said that, no team is winning the Super Bowl with thier backup QB unless they are cheating....
Up here, our sports talk radio was buzzing with people morally outraged that Vick is employed by an NFL team again. Is it like that down there? Maybe it's the lack of NFL coverage up here, because I thought most fans would've gotten all of the outrage out of their system during his trial.
I'm curious, what stations are freaking. I don't listen to much Canadian talk radio because a lot of it is Hockey overkill.
I guess people in Philly are pretty pissed about it, but Eagle fans are always pissed about something so I'm not sure it's a good median. A lot of people don't understand why the Eagles signed him though and don't see him fitting in with the West Coast offense.
He should of went to the Cowboys. I like Vick a lot, and it should be fun to watch him play when he gets the chance.
The Morning Show on the FAN590. One of the hosts had a relaxed perspective (don't like the dude, but he served his time) while the other was all over Vick for not visibly showing that he was humbled/changed by the experience. They had a call-in segment and an Eagles fan living in Canada said that he was "done with the Eagles" and was considering rooting for the Redskins now.
Anyone outraged about a man who pays his debt to society(a dept that was 10x worse than his crime) and then gets a second chance has their own problems....those poeple dont deserve a voice....
