<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>NewsOK.com - Hornets guard Speedy Claxton is set to open up contract talks on a long-term deal this week.Claxton is a 6th man of the year candidate and will meet with Hornets brass over dinner on Wednesday with his agent Bill Duffy. The Hornets have made clear that they hope to keep the point guard who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.</div>Solid move. he is playing phenominal this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him win the 6th man award.
He would be a good promsing PG to lock up with a long contract deal. Would be a smart move if the Hornets to do so
They should. I think he will most likely stay. I can't think of any teams that are really pursuing a starting point, I also think Speedy realizes he is better off the bench. But if he goes anywhere it should be to Boston
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>why?they got Paul lolsign and trade baby~</div> You can't sign and trade an unrestricted free agent and besides Chris Paul is not guaranteed to be healthy all season, they will need a backup pg, and Speedy is one of the best. This is a good move by the Hornets as they will get a lot of competition for his services.

He can still play when Paul needs some time on the bench to make sure his team doesn't fall behind, what if an injury occurs, or Paul is sick one night. Lol thats how benches work :happy0144:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (LakersFan247 @ Jun 2 2006, 10:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>good point</div>Not really, because sign and trades are available to unrestricted free agents. They just aren't as common because they are difficult to pull off and unrestricted free agents can sign with anyone who has enough under the cap to make them a deal. The problem for Speedy is that if he wants to play for a good team, he is generally limited to the $5MM exception. So, he might actually be an unrestricted free agent who could get involved in a sign and trade.
Looks like he wanted to start, can you blame him? BJax will be solid though, should put up similar numbers to Speedy, little bit older though.
