Man, if there is one thing this board has done, it's make me like the Democrats more. I hate partisanship and I can't stand either major party. After reading this board for a few weeks I feel like donating everything I own to the Democrats and voting Democrat straight down the line. The lies, talking points, total rejection of reality, smugness, victim roleplaying, absolutely stunning hypocrisy, manufactured revisionist history (Nazi's are lefties LMFAO!!!) and other assorted dirty tricks have made me consider registering as a Democrat even though I loathe them.

So right wingers if your point was to alienate people on the fence and drive them in droves towards the Democratic party then let me just say "Mission Accomplished".

So to all the non-republicans are the Republicans more annoying when in power (8 years of Bush) or when they get to play their oh poor us victim card (past 8 months).

    I'm going with the later.

Worst commercial ever proves Republicans WAY more annoying:

What a load of self-congratulatory, masturbatory garbage in an age where they are the do-nothing party.

When a situation exists where one party has complete power--majorities in both houses of Congress and the Presidency--both become unbearable. The party in power becomes arrogant and overreaches and the minority party opposes everything hoping to find traction on any issue.

Are you talking about Bush from 2002 to 2006 or Obama now? Seems both are applicable. Bush of course had a Supreme Court edge as well.

For the record honest Republicans are wonderful to find. There are just exceedingly rare. I don't like the Dems pretty much at all, but the Republicans as a whole have become abhorrent to me. When I hear people say Hitler was a lefty it's hard for me to take anything they say seriously. That's as ludicrous as someone saying Stalin was a free market guru. Both the far right (Hitler, Mussolini, Franco) and the far left (Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot) are Totalitarian when they seize power. In fact I don't care what affiliation someone has once they become Totalitarian they have gone beyond the pale. The recent attempt by the right wing in this country to categorize Hitler as a Socialist and left leaning is enraging to me. Some of my wife's family were killed in the Holocaust and it insults their memory to deny the history that led to that event. Likewise if I heard a lefty claiming that somehow Stalin wasn't really left of Center I would be equally outraged.

FWIW I am extremely suspicious of the Obama administration and alarmed at their spending spree. Truth be told I feel both of our parties are hijacked by a fairly small clique or perhaps two cliques with a fair degree of agreement about somethings and some minor disagreements on small issues.

If the Republicans continue in their intellectually and morally dishonest campaign I will have a hard time voting for one ever again. I voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the last election along with a fair amount of Independants, Green Party and Libertarians. I'm not sure I can vote for a party that claims Hitler is a leftist. That kind of lie is simply too much to bear.

That's good to hear. I like you better all the time Maxiep. Funny how that works. I couldn't stand my best friend until I got to know him. His initial bearing probably reminded me too much of me. Please don't take that as an insult ;) I am going to post later a financial thing and get your read on it. I prefer to talk about economics as opposed to politics anyways. Politics is just sickening to me now days. I don't vote for the lesser of two evils. I vote for the one that doesn't cause me to vomit all overmyself. I'm scared I won't be able to vote at all come 2010.

    FWIW,

I think the democrats are incredibly whiny when republicans are in office. So much so that the constant negativity drove people to reelect Bush by a decent margin.

I'm actually glad democrats are in office, simply for the STFU factor. But I'd rather neither were in office, or certainly an utter gridlock so nothing could get done at all.

While the Democrats are in office, the republicans aren't actually whiny, but conniving. I see it as a big difference - they're quite strategic about finding issues they can push and hopefully win them elections. It doesn't help that the Democrats implode on their own without much help (remember those blue dog democrats opposing health care and other spending programs?)

When in power, destroying people's lives, embarrassing our citizenship, and tearing our country down for their personal profit, it's more than annoying.

    It's treason.

When out of power, whining and squiggling around in panic like the dim-witted leeches they are, it's mildly humorous.

Re: Poll: Republicans more annoying when in power or out of power playing the victim

I actually don't agree. If the Republicans were to constantly go after Obama's spending especially in regards to the Bank bailouts and preach about the Socialism (Really more fascism then socialism as Government Sachs is basically the 4th branch of government) I might respect them more. I find that the Republicans have become disgraceful in their attempts to shape reality to fit their agenda.

I want to see the Republicans focus on what is now somewhere between 12 Trillion to 24 Trillion in various bailouts, FDIC rescues, Off balance sheet FED transactions and other chicanery involving the banks. If the Republicans hammered on this issue to 1/1000000th the degree they go after healthcare reform I would probably be considering registering as a Republican. But as the RNC and DNC are both utterly co-opted by the financial industry virtually no ruckus has been raised on this FAR more important issue. The way the Healthcare debate is being framed by the Republicans is beyond dishonest but has actually gone round the bend.

The Democrats weren't whiny that I saw when Bush was in power. I felt more like they were spineless, rudderless and useless. The Dem's base fough tooth and nail to try and protect our rights but much like the Republicans are with bank bailouts when push came to shove the DNC enslaved Democrats did a whole lot of nothing to stop Bush's anti-constitutional rampage. Likewise I see nothing done by the Republicans about the CRITICAL issue of the greatest robbery of all time which is occurring right now with these hand outs to the banks.

I was in agreement with the Republicans about GM takeover by the government, but this healthcare debate has become absolutely disgusting. The way the Republicans are framing things obscures the fact that it's a TERRIBLE program due to the fact that it isn't socialized medicine at all but just more private hunting grounds for Obama aligned big pharama and insurance interests. If the Republicans were going after those sweetheart deals as the heart of their argument I might listen. Predictably, the Republicans are apparently totally fine with sweetheart deals for corporations coming from the tax payer wallet. They just don't want there to be a whiff of healthcare for all or any attempt to cap the insane increases in health care costs. Saying stuff about Granny being killed, the supposed destruction of ALL free market health care (utter BS), and worst of all the claim that Hitler was a left wing socialist just makes me ill. I just wish people could actually discuss the issues instead of turning everything into a hatefest to obscure the ongoing theft of this country's treasure. Unfortunately, theft for the elite, by the elite, is apparently the central plank of BOTH parties.

While I might not put it in such extreme terms, I largely agree with you on that. The sheer passion of partisan wrangling is mildly amusing to me, as I don't think this is a two-party system so much as a one-party system with two wings. We have a (traditionally) Christian Capitalist party, with wings called Democratic and Republican. There's no true libertarian party or socialist party. Obviously, Democrats and Republicans differ on various issues, but they're really differences on the margins that become, for lack of anything else, the object of intense and heated fighting.

That one party is slowly changing, evolving away from Christian social conservatism. The reason Republicans are being marginalized a bit right now is because they're trying to continue to differentiate themselves on social issues and that's a losing cause. They'll realize that, re-tool themselves around the recognition that tooth-and-nail opposition to gay marriage or abortion isn't helping them and the two "parties" will again be wrangling just as hard over pretty minor differences (to the country at large). But those minor differences will be marketed as massive philosophical divides.

That may be in 8 years. I think it's a tad early to say Obama is worse then Bush. You got worse spending and that's about it.

I hate the extremes of both parties, why can't we get a middle of the road independent in office?
