So, last season Nate said he doesn't look at the roster as being starters and reserves, but as the "black unit" and the "white unit". From what has been reported, it looks like going into camp the "black unit" will consist of Roy, LA, Joel, Batum, and Blake. The "white unit" will be Miller, Rudy, Webster (assuming he's healthy by camp), Outlaw, and Oden. And this, of course, got me to thinking about how these two units would compete against each other. I think it's close, and I hate to ever go against Brandon, but I think the white unit has too much fire power for the black unit to handle. I'd take them by four points. What say you?
Shit, that second group looks tough. Rudy, miller and Greg coming off the bench, that's some firepower!
I would go with Blake, Roy, Batum, LMA, Joel over Miller, Rudy, Webster, Travis and Oden. Blake < Miller Roy >> Rudy Batum > Webster LMA >> Travis I think Joel and Oden would keep each other in check, with a slight advantage to Greg, if he didn't foul out.
Roy is the difference maker. Hardly anyone in the league can stop him from scoring, I wouldn't expect anyone on our bench to stand a chance.
While I agree completely, I would hope the Black unit would dump it into LMA literally every trip down the court. I don't see Trout being able to stop him.
It's worth noting that the two teams are suited to completely different styles. The "white" team is a pound it out team, with Aldridge as the low/high post option, Joel the cleanup guy and the rest spaced round the three point line, while the other team should try to run as much as possible. So a lot would depend on who gets to impose whose style on whom. If you know what I mean.
