What, did you miss the news, Azu? The Warriors acquired Devin George!!!! The x-factor! The missing link! The proven defensive leader with championship experience!!! No, seriously. Larry Riley tried. He just doesn't really know how to be a GM. This was the best he could do. He has no experience -- he was on the road with the Warriors coaching all last year -- sure, he probably has an eye for Xs and Os, and an eye for talent... I mean, he probably realizes that Amare Stoudamire is a great player (I see it too!), but that doesn't matter much as a GM. Everyone in the NBA knows how to see talent. What matters is how to wheel and deal and make a sale. The GM business is not about X's and Os. It's about savvy. You know who would make a great GM? A used car salesman. Just tell him who to get, get someone to help him with the contract math, and let him go wheel and deal. You know who is probably not very good at negotiating, bargaining for leverage or making a sale? Larry Riley.
