"So, Phil Jackson, you got Kobe Bryant, you got myself at the three like Scottie Pippen, you have a clutch shooter in Derek Fisher like a Steve Kerr, you have Lamar Odom like a Toni Kukoc, it's just fun, it's a dream. I thank God so much to be in this situation, get a chance to win, playing with the defending champs, and I'm in LA 'cause you know I love the spotlight."

Artest in an interview, I'm not sure I completely agree, how about:

    Jordan - Kobe
    Fisher - Kerr
    Odom - Pippen

    and

Artest - Rodman the nutcase that joins the team after a title??? Kind of jacked up that he thinks he is the Pippen of the team since he has been a Laker for a month and never played a single game!!

I would say Odom is more like Kukoc, and they come off the bench.

I agree with your Artest-Rodman Comparison. However, I think Artest is more together offensively than Rodman.

As for Pippen. Not a chance.

Lakers are being compared to the Bulls, not vice verse.

??? The fuck is wrong with you? The article you quoted says Odom - Kukoc, Artest - Pippen etc. Then you go on to say Odom - Pippen and Artest - Rodman? The fuck?

Scotty Pippen is a shoe-in HOF'er and one of the 50 greatest players of all time. By the time he got to Portland, injuries had already taken their toll on him and he was still the best all around player on that team that almost went to the finals. Artest is no Pippen, not even close.

A better comparison is Artest = Rick Fox

    Exactly. I said

"I'm not sure I completely agree, how about:"

And said that he is wrong comparing himself to Pippen, Odom is the Point Forward that was there and brought the title, Artest is the lunatic that signed as a free agent like Rodman after they won. It's really not that difficult to follow.

Not really. Artest is a lot more talented than Fox ever was, on both ends of the floor.

Anyway, it's a pretty dumb comparison, particularly Artest comparing himself to Pippen. Pippen was one of the smartest small forwards of all time. Artest, well, isn't. Even. Close.

Really, the only comparable players are Kobe and Michael. Obviously, Kobe isn't as good, but he's still the best shooting guard in the NBA. I suppose there's also Phil Jackson.

If you want to compare their team, how about our 2000 WCF team?
Weak-link point guard: Stoudamire vs Fisher
All-star SG: Smitty vs Kobe (ok, that's not very fair)
Defensive-minded SF: Pippen vs Artest (broken down Pip is a fairer comparison to Ronron.)
Long PF with a soft reputation: Wallace vs Pau
Big strong center: Sabonis vs Bynum

Meh, that's not a great comparison either. But it's better than Artest's.
