I doubt there's going to be a lot of parties. I decide not to go away for college. I'm kicking myself in the head over the decision. Fml.

    Idiot.

Man, if I lived in the USA I would for sure look for the best fraternity and go there. You make thousands of lifetime connections and you just have the best time. Way to fuck it up.

To be honest, I didn't want to take out loans of about $2000-3000 each year. But then again maybe it would of been worth it - the whole college experience. If anything, I can always transfer next year.

Don't fall more than two weeks behind in your readings. And make friends in each one of your classes who're willing to share notes when you miss (skip) a class.

Find out when/where pickup basketball takes place. Some of the cooler people I became friends with were those who I met while playing ball.

I stayed home, and don't regret it. You'll love college regardless, unless you are a hermit.

I was never "away" for college, but living on campus for a year was cool. I met people from all over the world. It's basically like living with your friends for a year. My biggest advice would be to keep everything in perspective. Realize that these are "the best years of your life" and live it up. But also realize that you're paying thousands of dollars to get your education so don't slack off too much. I actually know someone with a 0.9 GPA who thought college was just partying all the time.

    Good stuff.

Unless your parents are super-strict or your college is really really far away, not living on campus isn't that big of a deal. I mean, there's certainly something intriguing about living on your own for extended stretches of time (I can't wait 'till post-grad when I can finally give it a shot). But you can very easily reach all the same parties and whatnot while living off-campus. You can always crash at a friends dorm or something (or sleep on a park bench or something).
