I'm trying to put it in perspective on what it's like to be a Cheese head today. The only thing I could think is, how would we have felt if Clyde ran off and signed with the lakers, the suns, the sonics back in the 90's. Would your opinion of Clyde have changed if he followed the same foot steps as Brett Favre and signed with a heated division rival? As a Pack fan do feel like you have been stabbed in the back by one of your all time favorites? Would you if Clyde done the same thing?
Clyde already has allegiances to Houston stronger than the Blazers from what I can tell. As far as I'm concerned, it's his loss! I love that story abm (i think) told about taking his kids to see a blazer game in houston, meeting Clyde and telling him Roy was his favorite, and his dad's favorite was Porter!
Actually I think the thing you are missing is that Favre is doing this in part to get back at Green Bay. He was pissed they decided to move on without him. BTW I think this is a mistake by Minnesota. They had a young team on the rise, they didn't need Favre, and if I was their QB who just got shafted, I would probably be pissed.
You really think that? Dude he knows that GB needed to move on without him. He isn't mad about that. He knows his arm is done. Rodgers isn't gonna ride the pine forever! He did it for the money dogg!!!1
Being a 40 year old qb no matter how good he is, is not going to be something I'd be that comfortable with if I where a Vikings fan. But for Packer fans, its not that big of a stab in the back, they brought in Rodgers awhile back to be his successor and with all of these impulse unretirements, it was the right choice to let him go, they couldnt have Rodgers sit on bench behind Favre until he is in his thirties after all.
As a lifelong Packers fan (hey I remember rooting for the Len Dickey coached teams ) it's all just a bit tainted for me now. All I can say is fuck that guy and go Aaron Rodgers.
I actually think this makes Minnesota the favorite in the nfc. They have the ends, the running back, the defense. Now they may have the quarter back. I do feel for Rosenfels. I thought Minnesota solved their qb issues when they made the move for him. Now he will be pushed back into backup position, just as he was in Houston.

If we pushed Clyde out the door, I wouldn't care where he signed. He does make the Vikes the favorites in the NFCN. Mainly because he can't do any worse than Tavaris Jackson. Favre will at least keep teams from stacking 9 in the box to stop AP.
well, Shaq went from my favorite player in the league to most hated just by joining the L*kers. If Glyde played for them, I would boo him until my voice went hoarse. other teams I won't really care all that much about...but the L*kers are boo'ed no matter who they play and no matter who is on their team. I will never cheer for the L*kers or any of their players.
If he's the Favre of last season before the injury, he'll greatly upgrade them. If he's the Favre of last season after the injury, he'll actually be worse than Sage Rosenfels. The change in Favre's effectiveness after the injury (which supposedly might still be lingering) was really dramatic. He was supremely awful at the end of last season. That said, if I were the Vikings, I'd take the gamble. But I'd have a quick hook...if he's throwing interception after interception for the first 2-3 games, I'd pull the plug on that experiment.
If you were Minnesota's QB, I'm sure you'd be pissed. But you would also suck at being a QB, so what's the difference if you're pissed or not? The 'young team on the rise' is still there...now they have a QB who isn't terrible.
I'm betting on the latter. Like last season, he wasted his summer not deciding and revelling in the media attention rather than working on his conditioning and getting in sinc with his teammates. Down the stretch, it hurt his production immensely. I think it'll do the same this year. If you're Brad Childress, can you even afford to bench Favre at any point this season? His credibility is already shot after the amount of times he's lied (to the media and to his QB's). Rosenfels couldn't possibly trust the man after what he did to him and the media will hound Childress mercilessly for gambling his season on Favre. If it ever gets to the point where Favre needs to be benched, Childress is guaranteed not to be with the Vikings past this season. He dug his own grave and now Favre's the only person who can pull him out.
Green Bay fans should not be upset at all. The Packers were trying to move on without him for years, especially after his "I'm gonna retire....maybe....well I could....I think I am....actually I can't leave....no I'll stay for one more year...." repeat that for a few years and it gets to the point where the team cannot plan an offseason effectively. If Favre had pouted and demanded a trade year after year and finally got his wish and joined a rival, I'd be really fuckin pissed off. But it didn't happen like that so they really don't have a reason to be upset.
That could be. I will never question the fact that money can be a big motivating factor. But I still think that going to a team that is a direct rival of your former team is basically putting a stick up Green Bay, and their fans ass and saying "How do you like it now?"
