"There's an interesting back story here, one that explains in part some of the fractured relationships that defined the Suns' struggles last season. Shaquille O'Neal stole Steve Nash's idea. Shortly after O'Neal was traded to the Suns in February 2008, Nash mentioned to his new teammate a reality show he was pursuing. It would feature the Suns point guard taking on professional athletes in their own sport. The topic didn't come up again until early in the 2008-09 season, when O'Neal boarded the Suns bus and told the team he would be starring in a new reality show in which he would be taking on, you got it, professional athletes in their own sport. 'You mean the idea you stole from me?' one Suns representative said he heard Nash say. Nash eventually sought out an entertainment lawyer, according to sources, which is why he now has an executive-producer credit and the compensation that comes with it. When reached Wednesday, Nash would not confirm the story. ... In reality, a source close to Nash said, 'Steve was pissed. He couldn't believe Shaq's lack of integrity.' Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash What a punk ass bitch. Another reason to hate Shaq. And I liked that show too I would rather see Steve Nash take on other athletes than Shaq too. Bummer.
Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash I have a feeling it'd have been a more watchable show if Nash was behind it instead of Shaq.
Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash i never trusted shaq- its good to see nash standing up to this clown if the story is factual
Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash Maybe I'm reading it wrong but in this article http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/61223/20090820/shaq_stole_nashs_idea_for_reality_show/ It sounds like Nash isnt standing up to him, "supports him 100%"
Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash Well, now he's an executive producer, so has an interest in seeing the show succeed. You could say hiring a lawyer and getting a stake in the show under threat of lawsuit was standing up for himself.
Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash I agree. I think Nash has great camera presence. The few times I have seen him in commercials or cameo spots on TV or talking to a group of kids . . . he comes across as very natural and witty. He has fun while the camera is on him and it shows.
OT: Shaq is a thief!!!!!! Check this out- According to The Arizona Republic, in February of 2008 Steve Nash told Shaquille O'Neal about a reality show he was pursuing which would feature Nash taking on professional athletes in their own sport. Later in 2008 O'Neal had his own show, which was very similar to Nash's idea. The newspaper reports Nash eventually sought out an entertainment lawyer, which is why he now has an executive-producer credit on O'Neal's "Shaq Vs." reality show. "We collaborated on parts of the show," says Nash. "I support him 100 percent. I thought the first episode was a fantastic episode, and I can't wait for the next one." Nash is sittin back and gettin paid!
Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash touche' But on another note.. why cant I think of these money making ideas?! I always see these things after they are done, and go "wow, thats like printing your own money, and it wasnt that hard of an idea to think up" dammit
The lesson is clear: Never trust someone who wore the Purple & Piss. Hell, part of me still doesn't trust Mo Lucas and Jerome Kersey. As an aside, a good friend of mine with whom I went to grad school went to HS with Steve Nash and remained friends with him. When Nash came to Chicago to play the Bulls, he came out with us the night before the game. We walk into this crowded bar, he puts a credit card on the bar and says to the bartender, "As long as I'm here, every drink ordered in the bar goes on my tab. Don't tell anyone about it." One of the coolest moves I've ever seen.
Re: Shaq steals idea from Nash trust me, its all been thought of lol, The system is air tight on that one.
