Report: The NCAA will force Memphis to vacate its record-setting 38-win season. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=ap-memphis-vacatedwins&prov=ap&type=lgns Idea being that Rose had someone take his SAT for him thereby making him ineligible to play.
Ya know, I really don't believe in this 'one & done' thing. Those kids don't have to go to classes, others take the SAT for them... it's a joke. Let them go straight to the NBA. As to Calipari, he's like some other coaches that sees instant success where ever he goes, but leaves behind a battered program. He's a sleeze. Good coach, I suppose, but leaves behind a lot of problems.
YES YOU DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Johnny, what do we have for BROWN_HUSTLA? Welllllllllllllllllllllllllll, BP, we have an all expense paid trip to Beaverton, Oregon. BH will dine in the finest of McDonald's, sleep in an old burned our Greyhound station, and work his way home with a cardboard sign on HWY 26........
Yeah, I'm curious about how the Jeremy Tyler thing is going to work out. Personally, if I could've spent my senior year in high school traveling around Europe being paid 200k to do nothing but eat, sleep and play basketball, I'd think it was a pretty sweet deal. Then again, the risk of signing a one-year contract when you have 2 years before you can get drafted seems odd. Maybe he thinks he'll blow up and be worth a million next year. Are there a lot of 6'11 athletic freaks in Europe? I know Wayne Simien is there, but I don't know how coaches there would train up and use a big athletic american 17-y/o 7-footer.
As it should be. Rather than makin a farce out of the NCAA, just go to Europe, get paid and then get drafted.
John Calipari walks away clean - for the second time. Meanwhile, people are still whining about how Rick Pitino should be fired for having an affair. Screw up on the job, and hurt your employer in the process....and you get a better job. Have problems in your private life - and every fool around thinks it is somehow their business.
borrowing a word from the title of another post that appears on this page: Orwellian because an 1) unknown person took an exam for an 2) unknown player an event that actually occurred is now 3) deemed not to have occurred the ncaa is a humongous exploitative joke, and its policies, such as redacting reality, are even more laughable than it
Whoopty fuckin do! Wow, 'erasing' a season doesn't mean shit. And now the coach and player have moved onto greener pastures, what the fuck does 'erasing' a season really do? Not a damn thing.
The whole idea of one and done was that the college ranks would allow a player to: A) Prove themselves so that the NBA wouldn't trip over itself giving millions to players who played against woefully inadequate talent in high school. B) Give the players some national exposure in college (following them in March Madness, etc.) probably so they'd boost the ratings for the draft and the next NBA season. That way there wouldn't be a batch of virtually unknown crap entering the NBA draft every year. If the NBA really wanted to do it right (along their existing lines), they could require a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in order to enter the NBA.
When I read that Memphis' 38 win season would be erased, I asked myself how long has it been since the Grizz won 38 games and when they were likely to win that many going forward?
