would u trade for steve nash? and would swapping caledron for nash elevate us into serious contenders?
There was a huge rumour last year that raps were gonna trade jose and sum1 else for nash and the guy who knocked kobe out damn forgot his name, anyways it didnt happend, because nash and bosh dont work nash need a GOOD player to work with not a decent!
thats a fudging of the facts- we dont know if there were ever trade talks for nash. and bosh could certainly compliment nash well because he's a big who can run the floor.
I've long accused Toronto sports fans of falling in love with their players to the point where they'd rather have a team they like than a championship. I'm down for pretty much any roster change that could get us more success.
Get close to what, making it to the 2nd round? Adding a 36-year old Steve Nash will not make you contenders. It might give you a shot at the 4th seed in the East, which might give you a shot at getting out of the 1st round, but that's it. Nash's scoring, assists and PER have all be down for multiple years in a row. His scoring has gone from 18.6 to 16.9 to 15.7. His assists have gone from 11.6 to 11.1 to 9.7. His PER as gone from 23.8 to 21.1 to 19.5. Notice any trends there? At the rate Nash is declining, Calderon may be better than him this season. And, I know you may find this hard to believe, but adding Steve Nash to your starting line-up may actually make your already extremely weak defense even worse. Nash's DRTg of 115 last season was the worst of his career and worse than Calderon's 112. While Calderon "held" opposing PGs to a PER/48 of 16.3, Nash allowed opposing PGs to light him up for a PER/48 of 18.5. Short answer, no even if I'm Bryan Colengelo and have a total man crush on Steve Nash, I would not trade Jose Calderon for him straight up. It would not make much, if any, difference this season and hurts the team in the long run. BNM
caledron is unequivocally the worst defender in the nba, irrespective of any stat u quote. after coach porter was fired, the suns went with their up tempo offense which of course made the suns defense vulnerable to big offensive outbursts by the opposition. fyi- when marion was with the suns they used to use him as a defensive rover to help nash. as for caledron- what your stats dont demonstrate is how he makes our offense mechanical. the dude doesnt throw alley hoops; he doesnt force passes; he doest penetrate- and he defaults to pick and roll on seemingly every possession. and your criticisms are baseless because i prefixed my question with the hypothetical, although unlikely scenario where the raps would be contenders. i personally believe the raps are in contention for the 4th seed at best and 6th seed at worst so that scenario probably wouldnt play out but u never know with injuries and the cav situation could implode with shaq. to digress a little bit- i was watching the top 10 games from 08/09 on raps tv and they had this game between the nuggets and the blazers where melo was sitting out with an injury. well it was a crucial game because apparently there was a tight race for the pacific title but the blazers choked in spite of the nuggets playing without their star player. so my question is- do u trust the young blazers?
Dude dont diss Harris, J-Kidd Hall of Famer for sure but Harris is about to EXPLODE this season for sure!
Wow, I'm not sure what this has to do with the Raptors and Steve Nash, but to address your comments... You do realize the game you are referring to was on December 22, the 18th game of the season? So, it's hardly like the PNW title was on the line, but yes the Blazers lost that game to the Nuggets, without Carmelo, in Denver - and then turned around and beat them the next night in Portland. In a MUCH more important game - the last game of the regular season, with the 2nd - 6th seeds in the West still undecided, the Blazers beat a full-strength Nuggets team by 28 points (and it wasn't even that close). So, to answer your question, yes I trust my young Blazers - even more with the addition of Andre Miller. BNM
when did u become the forum nazi? it must be something in the water in portland. the forum is a free flowing series of conversations in my opinion and im not going to reopen a thread that hasnt been active in over a week or two, just to make a point. and i did acknowledge that i was digressing from the topic.
Forum nazi???? Seriously? Yes, the forum is free flowing, but since there was already another thread on the topic, would it not make more sense to continue that discussion in that thread, rather than go completely off topic in this one? That other thread hasn't been inactive "in over a week or two". It was still active as of yesterday morning, and you posted in it 3 days ago. BNM
