That man is dedicated! You hear all these stories about guys gettin paid and then just kicking back. Not BRoy. Was just out at the PF meeting with somebody and heard "HEY!" Turned around and there on the floor doing crunches with strength and conditioning coach Bobby Medina was the man himself. Hung out for 10 minutes talking college football, he was on the weights, medicine ball, you name it! Looked in great shape, lighter. Good to see our maxed out franchise player bustin his ass in the gym 9 weeks before opening tip-off! Blake was out there to and said he flet great, ready to go! MVP is a stretch, but 1st team all NBA is in his grasp!

You sure are a fan of Blake, sir.

I doubt it will happen for him - but I hope he proves me wrong!

    Go Blake!

Yeah, that Blake, he can flet with the best of them.

My hope is that Miller can take some of the pressure of off Brandon, and set him up more off the ball so he stays fresher and healthier. If that happens, Brandon can have an ever better year, while handling the ball less and carrying less of the load. We need Brandon at his best at the end of games and in the playoffs.

Thanks for the report. You are right, it is great to hear Roy working so hard after getting his money. I was a little concerned because he worked out so hard last year--I was hoping it wasn't just a contract year thing.

This year should be a lot of fun.

If Roy can use less effort for playmaking, she should have more to use for scoring and defense. I would love to see him get 20/7/7/2 (stls). That would put him in rare air.

Nice to hear (hope he doesn't push himself too hard like Martell, though). Unfortunately, I don't see him being first team, unless of course he wins MVP, or two of Paul, Wade and Kobe gets injured/has a bad year. If Roy could just maintain or even slightly improve his efficiency from last year for 75+ games , I would be more than happy.

Well, to be fair, he doesn't get paid for another year still.

    Thanks for the report.

Not to be a wet blanket, but, B Roy and Blake and hundreds of other professional athletes are jocks. Gym Rats by nature. It is who there are and what they do. Most of these guys are so so into the lifestyle of working out and playing sports that they would do it if they weren't getting paid. Go to any gym and you will see guys that are there all the time. What is the oddity is when you have the pros who don't like working out.

    MVP is an individual award.

    We want the trophy baby!

As for honors, Brandon will make First Team All-Kick-Your-Ass.

In his first three years his PER:
    18.0
    19.4
    24.0

24 is a decent (albeit not standout) season for an in-his-prime Kobe Bryant. Kobe's been right around there in 4 of his last 6 seasons.

I don't think anybody predicted Roy would see nearly a 5 point bump in PER at the beginning of last season. I'm expecting him to level off, but then I expected that last year too.

Roy certainly isn't a lock. But if you wanted to gamble on who might have a first team All-NBA season for his first time this coming year, Roy isn't a bad bet. Somebody has to eventually replace Kobe, and Wade has had problems staying healthy....

    Hell Ya!

Masbee, I agree with your gym rat post. I'm not a 'jock' but if I had a fraction of Roy's time and $$, and I wasn't stuck behind this stupid desk, I'd be at the gym right this minute. The anomaly for any professional athlete should be the guy who doesn't spend a significant amount of time working on his physical health and his physical conditioning.

I think the take home for me was that Roy is at the practice facility working out with Blazer staff members, not that Roy is simply working on his game.

Most players work on their games during the summer, but how many of them work out at their team's practice facility, and how many do so with the team's training staff? That's a more relevant comparison, IMO.

It's not Blake's flet that bothers me. It's his lack of consistent scoring.

It would be amazing for Roy to win MVP, but as long as he is a Blazer it will never happen.

Bill Walton won an MVP as a Blazer.

KG won an MVP as a Timberwolve.

I don't think Roy will win MVP, but if the team has the best record in the NBA the best player on that team usually gets the MVP (Dirk, Nash).

I don't care about MVP. But it would be cool to see. I would rather have a ring!
