Seahawks formally shed Duckett, remain mum on James

Yesterday, the Seattle Seahawks described as "speculation" the multiple reports that the team had agreed to terms with veteran running back Edgerrin James.

Last night, the Seahawks cut running back T.J. Duckett, creating a roster spot for a potentially speculative player, like James.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks made the Duckett release official. But they have still not announced the arrival of James.

Per the Associated Press, agent Drew Rosenhaus, who represents James, was at the team's facility on Tuesday.

So what gives? Unless there was a complication with the contract or an issue with the player's physical, the only reasonable explanation is that the team realizes that it'l look pretty dumb for signing James only a day after acting like the link between player and team had been fabricated.

UPDATE: Though the Seahawks are keeping quiet, Rosenhaus isn't. He has tweeted that it's a done deal.
