So I'm using my laptop right now. My hard drive on my desktop failed and I've replaced it already, but for whatever reason I can't log into this website with it. I've cleared my cache and cookies, allowed cookies, disabled all plug-ins, and I've done all this on both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Every other website that I log into is working normally. Every time I try to log in to this one it accepts my password, but then it brings me back to the main page with me logged out. I've already sent an email to the website, but that was a few days ago and I've got nothing back yet. Any ideas?
That didn't work either. I found a browser called SeaMonkey that lets me log in here. I don't know what's up with my system. Anyway, feel special folks. I have a specific web browser just for you.
I hear this problem occasionally. Nothing has changed in the software here since before you installed your new hard drive, and presumably reinstalled your operating system and other apps. When you log in, the site sets a cookie in your browser to remember you. I am convinced that when a cookie cannot be set, it is because you have firewall software installed on your system. Something like ZoneAlarm or even the built in windows firewall can intercept the cookies and block them. Or you have a browser plugin that is doing the same thing. The evidence presented here would indicate a firewall program that knows about the major browsers and is blocking cookies, but doesn't know about SeaMonkey. I hope that helps.
I eventually had to use Mozilla to stay logged in. It's also interesting to note that at the same time recently that both my home & work (on a huge netweork...) computers failed to allow me into this site. That makes me think it's a problem with the site software.
