Found this forum via a google search of NBA2K10 ratings. Those are my ratings, not 2K's. I've been editing ratings since 2K3 and I've built up a following. You can find the bulk of my work on gamefaqs.com though I decided to switch to blog format this season.

2K overrated the majority of the star players. Roy and Aldridge were not exempt from this. So it's not about them "getting worse", just being accurately rated.

Roy's block/steal ratings were much too high. Aldridge's block/rebound ratings were much too high. Aldridge's offensive rebounding was so high it was significantly better than Greg Oden's, which we all know is simply not true.

Welcome to our forum. I've never played 2k, and I don't know much about the ratings, but I think it's all very interesting.

anyone who has 2k9 for 360 and wants to relive blazer memories should check out my historic rosters on 2kshare. this year i did rosters from 1991 to 2002.

They seem pretty fair, I think Steve Blake is rated pretty high though. He should be like 76-78 range, behind Rudy Fernandez.

I don't know as I would consider 80 being about the level of a fairly productive starting guard in the NBA.

well 2k10 has a completely revamped rating system on a 25 to 99 scale instead of 50 to 99. i havent looked but im assuming rashidis ratings are based off of 2k9s scale. not that that matters but im guessing an 80 in 2k10 will be an above average starter which blake is not.

Haven't played a hoop basketball game since probably 99. Now with our team stacked, i'll pick it up a play as them!

Be warned though: Kobe is on the cover, so don't let that freak you out. Even with a hideous game cover, 2K10 will very likely be better than Live 2010.

Well, 2K10 will be a 10th-anniversary game so I bet the developers have put a lot effort in making this game special and memorable.

2k10 will have a career mode, where you can create a player and try to achieve a succesful career in the league. It sounds like that could be quite fun.

What's the difference between the 2 games. I am nowhere near a video game expert. Which ever one is easier to play is probably for me.

Well, the 2K series of basketball game has almost always been rated higher every year than Live. 2K is known more as a simulation game, while Live leans towards being an arcade-like game (which basically means more scoring, faster-pace, and more dunking). I read that 2K has been outselling Live basketball games on the next gen consoles (XBox360 and PS3). So it appears that 2K basketball games are better. But I guess it depends on your tastes.

If you're a basketball purists/enthusiast, I would think 2K is the game for you, where defense and playing team ball is valued. Of course, I don't know exactly how 2k10 and Live 2010 will play this year, so maybe you should wait for some reviews to come out before deciding.

    I will definiitely get 2K. I haven't bought a Live game since 2000.
