No, I was curious if you had any cute little syndrome to apply to those Duck fans. I mean, you're so quick to apply a syndrome to some Beaver fans who do the same thing those Duck fans do.
Oh I thought you were asking if I felt it was ok for them to do so. Yes Duck fans who do the same are suffering from the SAME little brother syndrome.
ANYBODY who says that BSU will win is a commie pinko. That said, I have serious concerns about the Duck's offensive line and the fact BSU is a heavily sernior laden team. It's going to be a very tough game. I'm really looking forward to this opener. Go Ducks
Let's keep it civil boys and girls. I'd hate to have to do my first edit I find myself on the fence though. I grew up a HUGE ducks fan. I watched them in the Rose Bowl against the Lions. I have a Ricky Whittle jersey somewhere... I was a big fan during the Akili Smith days, and I have a badass saladin mccullough jersey. I think those were awesome uniforms. My favorite team was the Joey Harrington Ducks though. Anyway, I have found myself relating less and less with Duck fans. As the years go by, and the team grows in popularity, it seems like a lot of Ducks fans are arrogant and elitest. They've grown into what we hated about the Huskies. A lot of them drive really nice cars and have personalized license plates. I miss the old days.
The reason that Ducks and Beavs fans flame each other is because both programs are damn good. It's a wonderful time to be a college football fan in the state of Oregon!
Bewteen the smurf turf and the ducks uniforms, this is going to be one colorful game. Think I need to watch this one in low defintion. Go Ducks!
Little brother syndrome? Hardly. The problem is a prevailing attitude among Duck fans that they're somehow superior (coming up with that little brother syndrome thing is just further proof.) Remember what Husky fans were like driving down I-5 circa 1991? In attitude, that's the typical Duck fan. (Not all Ducks are like that -- just more often than not.) You call a Duck fan on their superiority complex and they turn around and claim you've got an inferiority complex. It's ridiculous.
Are you kidding me? I'm a Beaver fan and I'd be mighty surprised if the Ducks don't win by at least 3 TDs.
Love those ones! GO DUCKS! I'm worried about this game big time, though. Wouldn't be surprised for Oregon to start 0-1, but thats alright. I still go into every game believing for a Ducks win! GO QUACKERS! But I agree with some in this thread that Duck fans are pretty ridiculous in general. They get pretty annoying, and act like they have accomplished (WE have accomplished) more than they (we) actually have. Oh well. What can you do? I just love my Ducks! Boise St. has a great home field advantage and probably circled this game on the calendar. Their sophomore QB (I think he is a soph.) is amazing, but they did lose their RB. They are very talented and are, what, a top 15 team? They may not be as talented as Oregon, but they are close. DEFINITELY BCS conference type talent. On the Oregon side, first game under our new coach with some new figures in the staff... we are on the road in a very tough environment, and we lost some really good players to the NFL. Pac-10 sack leader Nick Read, Patrick Chung, Jairus Byrd, Linemen, Jeremiah Johnson, Jaison Williams (He sucked last year though) and Terrence Scott (who was actually a really good WR). I'm just really interested to see this team in action, though. Hell, they may surprise me and be much better than I thought. We got a great QB and RB, which is a big deal. I just want to see how our D plays (hopefully better than last year)... I hear we have one of our best LB cores ever. But we lose 2/4 of our DBs and our best D-Lineman. I also want to see how our O-Line and WRs play. But we have a GREAT TE. You probably know all this, I was more doing this for myself to try and convince myself we will be ok, lol. I'm nervous.
For some reason people look at last year's game as an indicator to what's going to happen. It's not even close. All you have to do is look the QB position. Masoli hadn't been in camp for more than a month and was fifth on the depth chart before Costa Injured his knee. This year he is almost unanimously picked as the best QB in the pac 10. Then factor in the concussion and bringing in Chris "I can't throw a forward pass" Harper which resulted in a ton of costly turnovers/ three and outs. I think Oregon wins by at least two touchdowns.
+1 repped About a year ago ESPN's Pac-10 blogger Ted Miller commented on Duck versus Beaver fans. I'm paraphrasing but his take (he's from Georgia so he doesn't have a rooting perspective) was that Duck fans were shrill, hyperbolic and fanatical to the point of silly. Beaver fans on the other hand were funny, grounded and tended to understate their teams prospect. His theory was that Beaver fans had spent so many years suffering. I could relate having grown up in Albany. I still pinch myself that I got to watch the Beavs hammer Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl in my lifetime. I actually was thinking that Wheels attitude reminded me of one of many reasons I hate the L*kers, but the Huskies are a good example too.
Wait a minute -- isn't that the town that smells so bad as you're driving along I-5? Kidding -- I have friends from Albany and have heard the "Millersburg Clarification" more times than you can count.
I've always heard the smell thing is how you find Corvallis. Drive South 'til you smell it, then drive West 'til you step in it.
Actually the little brother comment was referring to the attitude of the fans who are like that. I would not say that a program with just as good of a track record, as the team I root for.
Fortunately, they capture the smelly gasses and release them all at once around 3:00 in the morning. Or so I've heard. All I know is I have worked less than a mile south of the place that makes that smell, and I haven't smelled it in a long time.
I'm sorry if the comments were not explained well enough or poorly written, but I was not referring to Beavernation as a whole, or even the Beaver program as a younger brother. I meant it as the fans who constantly feel the need to get the other teams attention. Both Ducks and Beaver fans have them, and I think its idiotic.
