Not surprised. A bit harsh to me, but then again, he was already suspended this summer and was likely on a very short leash.

    Way to blow it, idiot.

Its what needed to happen... if it would have been just the punch, that would be one thing, but the guy went crazy after that....

I'm really not surprised. The guy went all Ron Artest. The program needed to send a message that this kind of thing is not acceptable.

Yeah, I imagine if he hadn't done a lesser version of the Artest/Stephen Jackson meltdown after the punch, he MAYBE would have been allowed on the team after 5 or 6 games.

I won't argue with this decision. Kelly made the right move.

Well, he didn't actually go into the stands and start beating innocent people.

Shame it had to end like that for the kid, I could have seen him having a Rueben Droughns like year. Hopefully he takes up Kelly on the offer to stay within the structure of a team, and can do some tryouts in the NFL and make it.

why wish that upon someone? I have seen many kids from the "ghetto" come in and succeed under USC and go on to a successful pro career.

If the suspension is based solely on the punch, it is overkill. If it is based on the totality of his behavior, I can see it.

I take stories about jock's personalities with a big grain of salt - but when you hear repeated whispers that a kid is selfish and immature, you have to wonder. An epic meltdown like that seems to confirm it!

It will be interesting to see if he just disappears, or if he actually learns from this.

It's really not surprising though, simply because it happened on national tv and in front of the PAC-10 president. Blount embarrassed the school, and this is a knee jerk reaction, but it's one that I have a hard time arguing with.

you either slang crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot.

see, you probably never grew up in the hood so you don't know how it is.

Really sad ending to what was likely a promising career ahead of the kid.

A good reminder that it only takes one stupid action to totally change the course of your life. Dude could have been a millionaire NFL player. Instead, he lost his temper and all of his sense for 90 seconds and is going to pay a pretty steep price.

Can't blame the program for taking that action, though.

No one goes Artest except Artest.

He'll tell you that. And then punch you.
