How? He already played a game. Wouldn't that void it?

Not automatically. Injured players sometimes get an extra year, despite playing in 1 or 2 games. I think the NCAA has pretty broad discretion in this matter. I would be surprised, however, if they gave Blount a break. When it comes to "making a point", they are as callous as a POW camp Kommandant.

Yeah, I just really don't see the NCAA giving him a break in this scenario.

Yeah, usually there is some sort of hardship involved when they grant extra eligibility. Given that this is due to punishment for bad behavior, it'd be pretty surprising for the NCAA to do that.

Football should be the last thing on Blount's mind right now. He's keeping his scholarship for the time being. Will he drop out of school, or will he stay and advance toward his degree?

Lets hope that he stays in school working on that degree vs only concentrating on putting up good numbers for the NFL combine.

Or he should concentarte on making hiimself the best football player he can in hopes of making it to the NFL where he will make more money in one year than he will in 10 years with any other job he will get with a degree.

Don't forget that there have been cases before where suspensions have be "rescinded" later on in the year. You know - player X has shown remorse and has worked towards being a better person and so we show them charity.

That with the combination of the Old Style and the Cubs hat create a need, much like that in a migratory animal, for me to go back to the friendly confines. It's too much.

If they were actually wings. The Native Americans wore feathered headdresses, not winged headdresses. Just as those on the uniforms are feathers and not wings.

With this stint on of the ESPN writers is stating that this is going to hurt his NFL draft position.

Maybe if he and the university decided to file for a hardship case and get his eligablity or next year they could claim mental illness. I am not being a smart ass here either. I would think if a mental health specialist was brought in to work with him on anger management, the NCAA would have to allow that as some sort of injury/illness.

Fuck no. If a family member had died and he needed to return home to help take care of stuff, or if he had endured a season ending injury half way through the game then maybe I could see an extra year of eligibility, but he's fucked.

At best he might be able to continue to practice with the team for the rest of the year and it's possible he could walk on and try out for an NFL team in the spring (There's no way a team will waste a draft pick on him) or he might have a shot with the CFL or arena league.

Basically he just flushed millions of dollars down the toilet the other night.
