Terry and his family came into my work today. Just felt like sharing. Twas pretty neat. I got to serve and bus their table, so I spent a good amount of time bullshitting with them and helping them out. Really nice people. He still looks like he could play...
I have never run into any of the 90's era Blazers before, so it was neat to see my old childhood Dairy Queen cup in person...hehe.

    Just saying.

    "OMG, you're TP!"
TP: "Um...yep. I am. I'd like a big mac, large fries, and a diet coke please".

Hehe.... Not quite how it went, but it made me laugh.

I work at Elephant's Deli on NW 22nd. Still a bit menial, when compared with some jobs, but a pretty nice place. Stop by sometime. It is definately the best company I have ever worked for in the service industry. Even part-time employees receive health and dental insurance. That is pretty unheard of for most service industry jobs.

Anyways, Terry came across like some random dude. There was no air of importance or anything. In fact, it was so busy when they came in, there was nowhere for them to sit. 3 or 4 seats became available, so his wife and, I am guessing mother-in-law, and kids all say down. Terry just stood around holding his food in his hands, waiting for more seats to clear up. I noticed the couple sitting near his family had finally moved on, so I quickly set it up, scooted the tables together, tracked him down and said, "Alright man, you can finally sit down! You have been standing forever... you deserve to sit at this point. Follow me".
I am pretty sure he appreciated my efforts, based on tips.

Kind of lame. But it was still neat.

In this economy, any job is a good job. The fact that people are willing to work in fast food is a testament to their character. It is work, brings money in and keeps them off of unemployment. It is nothing to look down your nose at. I know Elephant's Deli is not fast food and is actually a very nice establishment. Kudos to you for finding that job, keeping it and hopefully using it as a stepping stone to your next job or while you are in school (if you are).
