He's having elbow surgery and will be shelved for the rest of the year. Should be interesting, why all of a sudden elbow surgery? Is he really that against fighting Marquardt/Hendo?
Re: Spider out for the rest of the year I doubt he had elbow surgery to avoid a fight... Fighting Nate or Hendo right now has no upside for Anderson. If he losses it'll be devastating, he'll ruin his undefeated UFC record and lose the middleweight title. But if he wins it doesn't really mean much as he's already beaten both and proven he's the superior fighter.
Re: Spider out for the rest of the year I know and I'm not disputing that fact, either. But he should have no say against fighting them again, as they are both in contention for the title. If he wants to hold onto the title, he needs to defend it against whoever the UFC matches him up against. That, or he needs to vacate and move up.
Re: Spider out for the rest of the year new news in an article from Kevin Iole is that he spoke to Silva's manager and he hasn't had any elbow surgery. They're discussing a Silva vs Couture fight at 205 as Silva became a bigger Randy fan after seeing his last fight vs Nogeuira and Couture has mentioned he'd like to fight Silva too.
^ Randy is interested in that fight too... the guy was dropped by Nogueira twice. Does he really think he can hang with Silva?
