Right before we signed Miller. They had a meeting with Lee and he said something to the effect that it wasn't the right fit.

I remember Lee saying that. I also remember us agreeing with it. The two sides just do not match.

I would sign Howard. Experience is what we need. Not talent. We have enough talent.

He offers experience. But what else does he offer? I just looked at his last years stats and if his career isn't dead yet. It won't be too long before it is.

Being that Outlaw will probably get plenty of minutes at the backup 4, I'd probably go with Howard since he'd come cheap and probably wouldn't demand much in terms of PT.

Okay, thanks. I was mostly following his discussions with the Knicks and not for other teams.

His agent though is a little questionable though. Apparently he thinks Lee should get $12M per.

    :sigh:

Not to beat a dead horse, but Joe Smith signed for the league minimum. Missed opportunity.

I'd take Howard over Swift, but I have always liked Lee. If he was willing to take on a role similar to what we offered Milsap, then I would work on that. If not....Howard wouldn't be bad. Personally, I would try and explore a deal for Nick Collison....

People only say "not to beat a dead horse" when they fully intend to beat a dead horse.

None of those guys really excite me. I guess you could pick one of them up to fill out the end of the roster. But I'd rather just see Przybilla play a few more minutes with Oden.

No, he isn't. I've got two pre-game beers as Schonley's Place on Opening Night 2010 that say Joel will still be a Blazer at that time. What do you say?

Character matters. I'm not saying that there will be no issues, but I strongly doubt that any chemistry issues could possibly come up with this group that are anywhere near severe enough to hand grenade the team's success like what happened at the turn of the century.

There are more benefits to building a team with good kids than just a warm, fuzzy feeling and a Blazer-free police blotter.

did you forget about the draft picks? JP and DC are both physical players

to the thread question, I'd like them to pick up some big cheap Shavlic Randolph type who'll practice hard and not bitch about never playing.

He would have been a better option then Howard and Stromile put together.

JP is going to be taking the next 10 weeks recovering from surgery. Since Nate doesn't play rookies all that often, we can safely assume JP won't see one second of playing time next season.

DC is another story. I would like to see him get more minutes. I just don't think he is the big bruiser Portland needs on the bench.

Then again, neither are Howard or Stromile.

It's too late now, but I was giddy when DeJuan Blair fell to us (three times). That's the route I wish we had taken to address the back-up PF spot.

Sadly, I'd like Channing Frye back.
