The Grizzlies took back their offer to Juan Carlos Navarro after signing Iverson to his 1 Year deal. I really wanted the Lakers to acquire him a season ago and he'd be a great backup off the bench for Kobe. He's best friends with Pau Gasol and has the 3point shot to stretch a defense and create the space to operate the Triangle offense. He's a lot more stable than Vujacic and could play for a discount price to be on a Championship with his good buddy.
He would be a good signing, but I don't see it happening at least for another year. I think we'll give Sasha one more chance this year, and if he doesn't produce, we'll try to dump him in the offseason when he's an expiring. Then we can go after JCV. I know JCV is great friends with Pau, but I wonder if he'd be interested coming back to the league? I don't see the Lakers dishing out that much money to get him. He'd probably get paid a lot more in Spain, and he's a superstar in his country.
Just say YES to JCN. Bring on the Spaniards. We should trade for Rudy Fernandez and then sign Marc Gasol and basically just send out a Spanish national team lineup. But seriously, JCN is good.
I'm not sure if the Lakers are done spending. I believe the team still has the LLE they can offer and might be able to free up a roster spot and cap space by dumping Farmar or Adam Morrison (or both) at some point. I have no idea what JCN makes overseas, but when he played for Memphis he was only making $538K. I wouldn't mind giving him a look at least and if it didn't make sense to bring him on board right away he could be a mid-season transaction that pans out for a playoff push.
