I'm standing in line at Subway about a 1/2 hour ago. Guy in front of me was about 6'6", African-American and happened to be wearing a Blazer Adidas sweat jacket. Woman next to us says hey are you with the Blazers while patting him on the shoulder. He says, excuse me ma'am, would you please not touch me. She got all offended and said, "Well sorry! Your tall and........ wait for it.......... COLORED, so I just assumed!" She called this guy colored!!!! He didn't even really go off either. He just said how rude that was of her to call him that and she made a big scene saying, "Sorry I'm not so politically correct!" I felt like I was back in the 50's. Then as he left I said,"Hey BOY, you forgot your chips!" (Last part was a joke)
wow, that is crazy. Did she actually go "Your (sic) tall and .......wait for it.......COLORED"? Is she the old lady version of Barney Stinson?
You know 6'6" really isn't that rare. I am 6'5" but I'm white. Where were you that this happened, like what part of town? I think if it really was a Blazer, HCP would recognize his face. Maybe not Dante, but he's 6'8"...
Colored? C'mon, get with it. They're negroes. Sheesh. Hasn't she seen a segregated fountain recently?
What? There was a tall negro in Portland that wasn't a Blazer? Is that even legal? Was he at least in town trying out for the team?
I hear you HCP. See my comment about compassion. People seem to think they can say whatever they want, which they can but it doesn't mean it isn't hurtful, rude and in some cases frighteningly devoid of compassion.
You CANNOT go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent ... I'm not joking.
I have been called colored probably twice in the past year. It's funny to me though. I don't find it offensive really.
