Wow, just saw it on sportscenter. She told the line judge she was going to "shove this ball down your fucking throat" and dropped the F bomb a bunch more times. I haven't found video of it yet, but damn! The line judge accused her of "threatening her life." That was crazy.

I turned the tv on when she was trailing 3-2 in the first and she seemed out of it, pacing around and acting strange. I would think the video would be enough to warrant a drug test. Something wasn't right with her, wish I had kept watching it.

    We need some video!

This is pretty good stuff, though. We found out that Michael Jordan is an asshole this weekend, and now it looks like Serena Williams is, too.

Both the Williams sisters are a joke. They've grown up thinking their shit dont stink and they can do no wrong.

Obviously none of you were around for Jimmy Connors or John McEnroe's meltdowns back in the day. This was nothing.

Serena didn't say "I'm gonna kill you", did she? I heard her deny saying that. Where is the audio?

    Fuck tennis.

I dont know that she did either. Just going by what ref said.

What I did hear and ESPN reported was :

    link
I know Mcenroe called refs every name in the book but did he ever threaten violence or implied that he wish he could?

No, according to Serena at the press conference after the match, she didn't say "I'm gonna kill you." And Serena had misheard and thought the line judge was telling the 2 other officials that's what she said, but apparently the line judge said no, she didn't accuse Serena of saying "I'm gonna kill you." So that part was all a misunderstanding.

However, what Serena said in reality wasn't much better, was it?

A foot fault at that stage is ridiculous. Somebody should shove the ball down the line judge's throat.

In the line judge's defense, she was just doing her job. However, the line judge should have used discretion on such a critical juncture in the game instead of following the rules in a black and white nature- like how NBA referees tend to let more contact at the last waning seconds of a close game.

On the other hand, the line judge's responsibility seems pretty clear cut, "black and white". Did the player step over the line? Yes or No?

But ultimately, I think you're right. The prudent choice would have been to let the violation slide, because the players were at a momentous stage of the game and also (from replays) it didn't appear that the foot fault was egregious. In fact- because of the lack of different camera angles- the various replays showed on the broadcast were inconclusive in regard to whether it was an actual foot fault.

disagree 100%....it is a black and white call and should be treated as such in every situation

Yep. If a foot fault isn't a foot fault at match point, then they should change the rules to say that.
