Am I the only one concerned about the amount time Batum, Fernandez is putting in over seas here in the offseason? I thought the offseason was for resting the body, the mind and such. That's not happening here with these two. I'm surprised the blazers aren't more uncomfortable with this. Will all this play eventually catch up with them?
No. Neither of them will play 35+ minutes/per this year anyway. I think this is great for Nic. Much needed experience and showing a lot of development.
I don't see who he's going to take minutes from (not that I don't like Rudy). Yes, we got rid of Channing and Sergio (the former should move Outlaw to PF full time and the latter opens up some guard minutes), but we added Miller and Webster, and Nicolas is bound to get more than 18 MPG.
I have to believe he is going to improve some from last season. If he does, I'm assuming and thinking that will earn him increased time.
Nico and Rudy are both young enough to withstand the rigors of an NBA + playoffs season, in addition to (at most) 9 games in Eurobasket. By the way things are going now, one of the guys will be eliminated in a few days.
Unconcerned. Every player is putting in a tremendous amount of work in the off-season. They're all constantly working out and working out very, very hard. It's not like you get MORE tired because it's a meaningful game than if it's just a summer workout.
Haven't you heard that work out, practice time is not the same as real time? Or playing in heavy competition?
geez can we on everything? Just the other week posters were in a tizzy over some players possibly not working out enough When I was in my early 20's I'd hoop for hours almost every day on concrete and I know my shoes weren't fresh out of the box more then a couple times a year. These guys are surrounded by professional coaches and trainers. I'm comfortable not knowing every single detail and allowing the player and club to do as they see fit on the offseason stuff STOMP
