If he is at Tri-Star I'm sure GSP is working with him--groin injury or not. GSP is expected to return to action in February. He has been medically suspended until January unless a doctor clears him beforehand. If he is already sparring with JLB, maybe he will be healthy in time for the NYE show--which is typically a big payday and a big marketing opportunity for any fighter to be a part of.
