If true the UFC could stand to gain one pretty good heavyweight, who they could easily market as a champion, and Strikeforce/M-1 could be shamed by having their best opponent for Fedor take a walk over the Thommy Depret situation.

Yeah but how long do you think it would take to get Overeem out of his contract? He may be better of fighting his contract out and then going to the UFC. Of course a loss vs Fedor would lower his asking price.

Well I don't blame him for not wanting to defend the Strikeforce title against somebody like Rogers or Werdum. It doesn't do much for his career to beat one of those guys and he loses a lot of money by taking a loss. The only fight worth coming back for is against Fedor. I reckon his management is trying to put pressure on Strikeforce to give him a big enough payday that losing to Fedor would be worth it, or beating him would be really, really worth it.
