There were some problems with the first game but overall Dead Rising was a nice surprise. Dead Rising 2 looks to be a similar game, which can be good if certain things (save system, ticking-time-based gameplay) are completely changed, while the rest remains. Here is a badass cap of the hero riding a dirtbike through a casino, which is expected to be the game setting (one even Romero hasn't done yet). Not so pleased to see the same character models being repeated this often, though.
I sooo wanted to have played that first game, but I just couldn't find it and I'm not willing to shell-out a huge amount of money through e-bay. can't wait to play this game.
I heard the saving system and "timer" on this was real messed up, hopefully they do fix that like you said. I only have a PS3 btw.
Messed up is an understatement. You can barely play the game because of it. A timed mission in any game is usually a pain in the ass--imagine a whole game that's timed, ensuring you can only attempt half of the missions, if that. And the save system is pretty fucky, too. You have one save slot and you have to save at certain locations--no autosave, no auto restart from checkpoint. If it was just a sandbox game with unlimited time and missions you take at your leisure, it would've been one of the best games of that year (05? Can't remember). But they wanted to artifically lengthen the game and have multiple endings so they did what they did and came close to ruining it completely. Killing zombies and raiding stores is hella fun, though. Even if they keep the old broken gameplay system I'll still be sweeping thorough DR2.
Well, I found some more shit. The game is set to be released somewhere within 2010. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZs8F0x604Y Sorry, I might of added the two of the same videos.
The main character in the first game was a paparazzi. There was a mini-game where you would take photos to earn experience points. It was actually pretty fun. At one point you get into a photo duel with another photographer (which ultimately ends in a fight to the death). They had a bunch of categories for the pictures and certain kinds of pictures would earn you more points. For example, you could get some experience with a photo of a dead zombie (horror/gore category). Or you could get a lot more experience by taking a picture at the moment you slay it. One example is sticking a shower head into the zombie's skull and taking a picture of the blood spurting out of the shower (comedy). That got a lot of points. Another way of getting big XP was getting an upskirt shot of one of your female companions (erotica). There were other categories too like drama, IIRC. The time mechanic system was dreadful in the original game. Hopefully they have done SOMETHING to renovate it. Otherwise they are preparing to release a game that is as much irritating as fun.
Sounds interesting. I remember taking a couple of pictures but I didn't do the mini-games. I never actually owned the games, though. Yeah, the six-thousand zombies will be immense -- Literally.
Game has been out for a couple of weeks -- Bump. Anybody pick this up yet? It received a good review from Gamespot. For PC gamers, this game can be purchased online via Steam.
