Thanks for all of your input. My wife looked over the channel listings and gave her provisional okay, so now the ball is in my court (pun intended). Do I call and make the appointment to have it installed? One thing I didn't mention is that I'm going to have to pay $80 to DirectTV to break my contract with them early, so that's an added expense. FUCKING FUCK, WHY CAN'T COMCAST JUST QUIT BEING DOUCHEBAGS AND SELL THE FUCKING CHANNEL IN HD TO DIRECTTV AT A FAIR PRICE????? FUCKING BASTARDS!!!!

Chris I feel your pain but do not forget about Comcast's god awful DVR, it constantly records both new and old episodes of season passes you set up, is laggy as all hell and the very small hard drives in the DVR's. You can record 16 hours of HD content on their DVR so if you fall behind on your programming or want to keep a game or two there goes half of your drive space. And last time I had Comcast their pausing live buffers was limited to 15 minutes on HD channels, this could have changed since I switched is very inconvenient as well.

I'm a DirecTV/FiOS for internet and phone customer and am considering adding FiOS tv, right now I can add it free for 6 months and months 7-12 is 30/month, plus they throw in a free DVR for 3 months. Total cost is $180 for all Blazer games, I know it's not HD but it is better than slinging it. I am in your boat as well, I have access to Dish, Direct, FiOS and Comcast and have chose to switch from them the day they launched CSNNW.

I have been calling Comcast once a week seeing if they will beat the Verizon offer and the best I have gotten out of them is $38/month with a DVR (to add HD it would be $46), total cost of about $228/$276 for the 6 month season with a DVR and SD/HD prices. And Verizon with my bundle would $180, if I paid for the DVR for months 4-6 it would add $48, so $228, plus I would have it for 12 months total because of the promo/contract, good thing is Comcast is usually contract free.

Just some things to think about especially if you have an $80 buyout, it might be easier to just add Comcast/Verizon to a TV rather than replacing everything.

Is adding comcast for the season not an option? I would not break my contract and go with Comcast, not even for my beloved Blazers! Think about what you are about to do!!!

I REALLY wish Fios was available where I live. :sigh:

I have an erroneous collections account on my credit report thanks to Comcast. They say I never returned my equipment when I moved two years ago, even though I did. I have talked to customer service on multiple occasions, and they say if I can't produce my equipment return receipt (again, from two years ago, and probably three moves during that time) it's a valid collection.

Over $600 for something I don't even owe. Pisses me off.

sounds like a chat with a lawyer might be in order. Might be more than $600 to fight it, but cleaning up your credit will be more valuable down the road.

They did the same to my wife when we dumped them, except it was with one of their cable modems. We returned, we both went into the Comcast "store" in Tigard with it, we signed the paperwork, and then she gets hit with a collections notice. We showed Comcast the receipt, they did not budge since it had gone to collections (this after they never once tried to contact us regarding the "missing" modem"), and we ended up paying for a modem that we had returned to them, and my wife's credit score took a hit because of the collection notice. I suppose we could have fought it, but paying the $100 seemed cheaper than dealing with an attorney.

I hate that company. Good luck, chris, I imagine you'll need it at some point during your Comcast experience.

I heard that Verizon is now leaving Oregon. Anyone have an idea on how that will affect CSNW on Verizon FIOS? That is the only reason I signed with them

Verizon has agreed in principle to sell off all of it's phone, internet and TV including FiOS to Frontier, the sale must go through several approvals etc etc however, after speaking to both companies, neither knew much, but I was told it was safe to assume that everything would remain as is for current customers including bundles, prices and services offered. Obviously once the sale is complete they can offer what they want to anyone else that was new. Something that was interesting is that they do not offer TV service anywhere, they have a deal with Dish Network and the rep I spoke to was surprised when I told him they were supposedly buying TV too. Not that I can blame anyone but it kind of sucks to know they would be going into uncharted waters there.

Do what you think is best. It sucks because I have Direct TV too, but the amount Comcast wants to charge people is retarded. There are other ways to watch games you can't.

Comcast puts out a great product. First, of course they'll dump the installation fee. Tell them that's a deal breaker. After that $54.99 special rate ends, just threaten to go back to DirectTV by keeping up your dish. They'll cave and extend it.

Chris, you've lasted how long w/o Comcast? I don't even have cable or dish man..that's how bad it is here!!! And yet somehow I struggle through radio, internet television, and the occasional night out to someplace that carries the games.

I'd say hang in there for the first 1/3rd of the season. If it just gets to be too much, then switch over and you've only missed 1/3rd. It's unlikely there's going to be some magical breakthrough but you never know. Like PapaG says, the Comcast HD is barely HD if you want to call it that.

Oh I dream of the day when Qworst goes away and Verizon / Frontier FIOS takes over the land. Then I'll finally be able to enjoy 300 extra channels of crap again.

I did just a 6 month package when I joined in June. So are you saying on December 3rd I can call and tell em I'm heading back to dish. They will give me whatever special deal or promo they have going at the time just to keep me around?

Several blogs believe that Comcast will soon buy Charter Communications. Google it!
