That wasn't a very confident looking team out there in the 1st 3 quarters. Thank God they are known to be slow starters, or I'd be worried.
Nice to see LT played good after rolling his ankle. I don't think it is anything serious. Explains why he was splitting carries with Sproles. I don't expect them to be evenly split all year long. Tomlinson looked good, I thought, with how shitty the offensive line was. He had 50+ yards on like 13 carries. I'll take that. And nice to get an explanation on the taunting call. I'd be pissed too if someone was rolling at my lower leg after the whistle was blown. Especially if I've already had a shredded knee.
Yeah seemed like after Warren and the OL got all tangled up and Warren slid down right near Rivers' legs you could see it coming from a mile away. Rivers went up and said something to Warren and Greg Ellis and Richard Seymour immediately made a B-line to Rivers to try to further instigate and draw the penalty. Rivers' reputation definitely precedes him. Loved seeing that fucking Raiders defense last night though (aside from that fucking TERRIBLE prevent defense at the end). They were drilling guys, getting at the QB, got under the Chargers skin a little bit. Secondary was fucking money. We should have won even with the overturned TD but didn't take advantage of a lot of opportunities. Chargers seized the win but I'm hopeful that as the Raiders mature they'll learn how to finish games and not let opportunities pass them by.
It prevents you from winning. The Chargers got pushed around the entire game, but Oakland found a way to lose in typical Raider fashion. The Raiders called a timeout to help San Diego score their game winning TD. LOL. LT looks terrible.
I disagree about LT. I think he looked respectable. Superstar? No, but very respectable. He had 55 yards on 13 rushes, 4.2 YPC. Most of those yards came after he rolled his ankle, too. Norv said the reason why he wasn't on the field @ the end of the game is because he rolled his ankle when he fumbled the ball and it by the time the last drive came around, it was too stiff for him to move on. For playing with a rolled ankle and a horrible offensive line, 4.2 YPC and 55 yards on 13 runs isn't bad @ all, IMO. I don't like the idea of splitting carries between Sproles and LT. Sproles isn't a feature back, he won't be able to withstand the punishment of being a feature back. LT should see the bulk of the carries, with Sproles being put in as the change of pace back.
Yeah prevent defense blows. After the game Tom Cable came right out and said that was clearly the issue and it will be fixed. I agree with Shape here I wasn't impressed with LT aside from the one ~12 yard run where he stiff armed a Raider DB. Granted, he still put up like 4.2 YPC despite a makeshift O-Line that was for the most part being manhandled all night. I would agree with Norv Turner that LT and Sproles should be splitting time. LT should still see the bulk especially on runs from scrimmage but to be honest at this point, as an opposing fan, I'm a lot more fearful of Sproles when he gets the ball in his hands than I am of LT.
The prevent defense is atrocious, I swear coaches just need to stick to normal D throughout the entire game, as long as it is working don't fix jack.
Definitely. Though I believe our defense is more susceptible to big plays as we always run man coverage on the CBs. Its especially hard against SD because with man coverage you want to keep both safeties back but with Gates you need a safety covering him.
