Talking about the 15th man. I would rather stuff that spot with a longshot for the future than a a has-been. If we needed depth, or more vets, i would go with that, but I don't think anything specifically is needed that would outway keeping the pipes loaded.

The idea of Juwan is for the situations of when Travis Outlaw is being bullied down low, the blazers have a bigger body to throw out there to answer those situations.

I agree and am not arguing about Juwan, I am talking about what to do now with our final roster spot. We now have Miller, Howard, Przybilla and Blake for vets so I think we can work on something else. I don't think we need any particular hole filled anymore, so with the final spot, lets get a youngster.

    Oh sorry.

    Leave the spot for Mills.

I think its a good signing. And I'm pretty sure Juwan isn't going to see the court at all unless it's garbage minutes or if one of our bigs suffers an injury (very possible). Otherwise, I agree with how John Strong assessed Howard: glorified assistant coach.

He could be a decent big man coach for Greg.

Actually, I'd rather see us just leave the 15th spot open for now. I doubt if we're going to get anything in a 15th man that would help us. If we leave the spot open, we would be able to address a need if someone goes down with an injury and pick up a cheap vet or D League call-up on a 10-day contract or two. It will also give us more flexibility at the trade deadline.

We already have young players with potential at every position (2 deep at some spots), and another handful of young prospects stashed overseas. I don't see anyone out there that's available that would provide anything we don't have plenty of already.

Of course, if KP uncovers a great, previously undiscovered talent playing in some remote corner of the globe and can sign him, I'd be all for it. It just seems unlikely in this day and age where top prospects are scouted and ranked in junior high - or before.

Here's the Quick quote that I liked the best:

"And during a stretch when center Greg Oden made some offensive plays, Howard implored the team to keep going to the big man while he was hot."

He just earned his first paycheck with that statement.

Grizz might be good this season. OJ-Iverson-Gay-ZBo? Not a bad combo.

I'm thrilled with this signing. As I said before, Juwan and I went to college together so this is really cool. Go Blue!

Maybe in a bizzaro universe where instead of 5 guys sharing one rock each player gets 5 shots.

But next year in the NBA... that team is going to suck.

juwan howard doesn't help the blazers at all. he was done being an effective player by the time he arrived in houston 5(i think) years back. he is worse than frye.

Yeah right. Four selfish players who all think they are the man and want 20 shots a game. Two words:

    One Ball.

Which is why Howard won't bitch about not getting PT.
