Yeah! Let's crap on every player who played badly during summer league, because that's obviously the best way to evaluate talent!

you mean last year or as we go forward? Portland's 2/3 spots are pretty deep with players who are arguably better then Brandon Rush. The player Portland completely wiffed on in that draft was Anthony Randolph.

I hope KP makes a run at Conley.

Or, ...I hope KP brings over Petteri as our 15th man to develop under Miller.

That was my point, although it wasn't entirely clear. Rush would have had the same problem as Bayless finding PT.

...he has amazing work ethic, but I promise you all that he is the most selfish "I" player on the entire roster!!!

well he did absolutely crush in this years summer league putting up huge numbers across the board so yes, but he also was pretty impressive during his rookie year as well posting a 16.9 PER. Dude was the youngest player in the league last year and showed a world of talent on both ends of the court. He's about the same size as LaMarcus and maybe even more athletic. I'd think that an Oden LA & Randolph Bigs rotation would have been pretty awesome as we move forward.

    Why do you say this?

(My gut feeling is that Bayless is more about himself than the team, but I've never posted it because I have nothing to back it up . . . I do feel for him because I think he is a talented player, just on the wrong team.)

here's a statistical comparison of Anthony's rookie year to Greg's with both projected out to 36 minutes...

Pnts FG% FTA FT% Rbs Ast Stl Bk TOs PFs
    AR 15.9 46 4.5 72 11.6 1.6 1.3 2.4 2.6 4.5
    GO 14.8 56 6.2 64 11.6 0.8 0.7 1.9 2.4 6.5

...and Randolph is 17 months younger then Greg.

...I say this because of my very first impression of him from his first summer league [MVP]. It has to do with how he carried himself and interacted with his teammates during the opening pregame shoot-around/warm-up session. I don't have the time to write out the whole detailed story, but the gist of it is that he is not interested in being a "team first" player [maybe that is why he won the MVP by driving to the hoop w/out passing all week long].

I still think Bayless is going to be a very good basketball player, but I don't know if we are going to be able to find him time this season, and that is going to force the issue.
