So it looks like the agreement to build a giant 12 lane bridge over the Columbia has fallen apart. And I say: Excellent news! link As long as I-5 is 4 lanes at the Rose Quarter, there is no need for a 12 lane bridge at the river. I'm not sure there is a need for a new bridge at all. Yes, it is kind of bad to have a drawbridge on a freeway, but is it $4 billion bad? I'm hoping Vancouver and Portland can continue to not see eye-to-eye about this. barfo
I doubt it'd be done in my lifetime anyway. Yeah... amazing they can't fix bottlenecks like near rose quarter (where you have people entering and exiting at just about same place... and right before a 3 land to 2 lane merge if you are going south on I5... God forbid if you take the 405 bride over and they get stuck trying to merge before Rose quarter) and then the I84 I5 interchange is also a joke.
When you cross into Washington the offramp to head to Camas was right at the end of the bridge, I assume it still is. Just that offramp caused tons of accidents and stopped traffic. They should just ban people from working across the river. haha
Adams couldn't get a baseball stadium built or the MC torn down, what makes anyone think he could get a bridge built. Maybe he can get the bridge we have declared a historic monument of some sort...then we'll never get a new bridge.
I don't think he wants a bridge built, particularly. So yes, a historical monument would be a good move. barfo
Actually, during the campaign for mayor Adams supported a new bridge. But he announced he wanted it to be pretty. Next, he proclaimed his support of the most recent proposal. Now he is rescinding his support of the project. Flip, flop.
