Friggin' Kevin Kill-drive! Every time we get into the red zone, his playcalling gets soo conservative. They've thrown run blitzes all game long, stick with the pass! Eli's playing great so far, why take the ball out of his hands?
What happened to your defense today, man? And I'm posting this as non-sarcastically as possible. I'm actually curious how the Saints put up so many points on you.
I have no idea. We played well enough in the first half, we actually got some decent pressure on Drew Brees. The game was still within reach after the first half, I believe we were down by like 4. Then when the 3rd quarter started Payton made adjustments while Andy Reid sat on his fat ass. We weren't prepared at all for what they threw at us. Just terrible play all around. Like I said, even if we had a healthy McNabb, I don't think the results would've been much different. We made absolutely no adjustments at half time (or at least definitely not enough to counter the Saints) and got owned. Although I must say, the Wildcat formation worked pretty well today. I'm interested to see how it will function once Vick gets reinstated. But yeah, very disappointing game all around. The only bright spot was Kevin Kolb, surprise surprise. Oh yeah, the loss of Stewart Bradley certainly hurts as well. Gaither just isn't that good, plain and simple.
That was a nasty facemask. We're overpursuing with the blitz right now and the Cowboys will exploit that consistently.
I don't think we pressured Brees enough in the second half, although that may be credited to their o-line. He seriously had all day to throw, I would've liked to see more blitzes. That and the fact that our special teams struggled, and we continue to pick up stupid penalties. Combine that with our abandonment of the running game, for whatever reason. 51 passes for Kolb and 21 runs. We played our best early on when the playcalling was even, but for whatever reason we went away from that. Then Kolb started getting rattled and threw a couple of picks, we never recovered from that. Their offense just beat us down plain and simple. Maybe the Saints just woke up in the locker room.
Great call for Romo to run it in for the TD!! We fronted NY 17 points and we'll still kick their butts!
