Do you guys remember that? I am watching it on the news right now so I don't have a link. But I guess he confessed and told the DA everything about it.

Thank goodness the family can have some closure.

    In return for his life.

I understand the family wanting closure, but that's a deal I could never make.

So you wouldn't tell them where the body was? You'd rather get the death penalty?

Fuck that. Put a bullet in his fucking brain. I would be happy to pay for the entire exectution in order to save the tax payers some money, as long as I was the one who got to pull the trigger.

I am so tired of plea bargains. This piece of shit now gets to live out the rest of his life on our money. Maybe instead of pleaing for life instead of death, we should start torturing these little fuckers and have them plea for humane death instead.

Well, they already found the body...that's why the guy confessed. He could have told the cops years ago if he was concerned with avoiding the death penalty.

Benton County isn't exactly rolling in cash right now. Capital punishment cases are expensive. I can see why the DA wouldn't mind taking a plea deal with no trial and no possibility that the guy ever gets out of prison. Since he's currently in prison in New Mexico and won't be released for many years, I can see why the family would ant the DA to make a deal, since otherwise, they'd have to wait for extradition, which can be time consuming followed by a long trial. That would make their nightmare come back all over again and last for many, many years. At least it's over for them.

Nope. He made a plea bargin and confessed to everything and skipped a trial in favor of not facing the death penalty. He told the police where they could find the body. I'm sure the family agreed to the plea so they could get some closure for their daughter. That would be a very tough call for a parent to make. 1-Make sure you find your daughter and let the piece of shit rot in jail for the rest of his life, or 2-Put that fucker to death but never knowing where or what exactly happened to your daughter.

I agree. I think he needs to die. But he WILL FOR SURE be tortured in prison. I would bet money on that. I would bet he doesn't finish his sentence, because other inmates will more than likely kill him. Rape is not taken kindly to in prison.

He is serving an 18 year sentence (or something like that) in New Mexico for something else (I think, I am not totally sure) and then if he finishes that sentence, he will come back to Oregon and start his new sentence. (I think, at least that is how the news story sounded to me.)

Finally, Brooke, May you rest in peace. And may your family have the closure they need and have wanted. And may the man who did this to you suffer a terrible life in Prison. God Bless the Dead.

My wife looks a lot like Brooke and my wife was in high school when she was kidnapped. She was out to dinner with my father in law and people kept staring at them and they couldn't figure out why since they hadn't seen the news. My wife and father in law drive back to their house and 10 minutes later there are 2 sheriffs cars at the house. They stayed for almost an hour and kept asking my wife if she was okay. Finally the problem was cleared up with some id checks and some photo albums.

I wouldn't worry too much about this guy getting a life sentence or not, if they put him in general population there's a decent chance another prisoner does the State's dirty work for them ...

I realize some may see this as inappropriate humor, but here goes: I can't help chuckling at the phrasing of the title of this thread. Think of "remains" meaning "stays" and you'll see what I mean...

I guess it would have been unambiguous if they'd said "Brooke Wilberger remains dead"
