Sorry, but leading a team that has no interior presence whatsoever (rebounding, defence, scoring) to 40-50 wins is incredible. Sure he has Carter, and Jefferson, a poor mans version of VC. He won't get the award, but he is definately a candidate. don't tell me Krstic is an interior presence. He is a poor man's Mehmet Okur (who also doesn't play interior D and can't really score in the paint.)

    1. Steve Nash - He scores 19 PPG on an astounding 51% FG shooting, and dishes out 10 APG. His team also depends on him more than Jason Kidd or Chauncey Billups. The Pistons rely on Billups for late game play, and momentum changing shots, but besides that the team is simply too spread out. Rip Hamilton is their scorer throughout play, Ben Walalce anchors their defence, Rasheed Wallace is actually more of a leader than Chauncey, and Tayshaun Prince is the finisher at the rim. Without Chauncey, the Pistons are still the Central Division champions in my eyes, whereas without Steve Nash or Jason Kidd, the Suns and nets respectively are dwellers at the bottom, or quite possibly out of the playoffs. In terms of skill, Steve Nash is a better shooter than Jason Kidd, and a better overally passer. He is a better halfcourt passer, and perhaps a better transition passer (Seeing as the Nets have become an increasingly slower team, and Phoenix has become increasingly faster :winkglasses: ) Nash is also a better halfcourt passer than Chauncey, and a better fullcourt passer (Seeing as Detroit is still primarily a halfcourt squad) While Nash is not a better overall scorer, he is a more efficent scorer, shooting 51% to Chauncey's 42%. 2. Jason Kidd - Kidd is the better player of the span of each's individual career, however at this point, his defense has become more inconsistent, and his scoring less efficent. He shoots 40%, 35% from three point distance, scores only 13 PPG (To Nash's 19 and Chauncey's 19), and is averaging less assists than both Nash and Billups. So what makes him 2nd on my list? The Nets depend on him. He has led them to the 3rd seed in the East, and a probable 50 win season. While Vince Carter is their scorer, go-to-guy late in games, and their halfcourt set runner, Kidd is still the best, or 2nd best transition passer in the NBA. He is the best rebounding guard in the NBA still, boarding 7 RPG. Without Kidd, the Nets are a low East seed, with no chance of contention for a Conference Semis spot.3. Chauncey Billups - Yes he is a better scorer than Nash in terms of offensive arsenel. Yes he is the best late game player. However, Billups is not nearly as important to his team. Without Nash and Kidd, their respective teams are 8th-10th in their conference. Without Chauncey, the Pistons are still battling with Cleveland for that Central Division title, and possible 2nd seed. Yes Billups plays on the best team in the NBA. Yes he might be their best player. However, they don't depend on him. They don't need him to come through in order to win the big games like the Nets need Kidd or Nash. Bottom line: Nash and Kidd are normally needed to put up between 15 - 20 Points and 10+ Assists to win the big games. They are so valuable to their teams compared to Chauncey, that elimates him. Then, Nash has a better team, which is why he is doing more with it. It now comes down to skill-set, which Nash undoubtedy has more of. Nash wins

Yes he won a ring and all but Nash has more experience, won the MVP last year, also Billups has 3 other all-stars on his team. Nash is playing without STAT, and has 3 guys on his team who are having career seasons. I don't see Billups improving the guys around him.Kingjamez - How are you going to put Billups over Kidd? That's insane. Kidd is one of the best PG's of all time.

This thread is about this year. How would we be talking all time? I don't know if any of these three are all time greats so lets squash that idea.If a Finals MVP, two trips to the NBA Finals, and a ring doesn't give Chauncey more accomplishments then a guy who never made the finals, redife the word accomplish.Chauncey is in the media MVP race, Jason Kidd is not. Chauncey was an all star, Kidd was not. He is having a career year, Kidd is not. Chauncey is more clutch. Chauncey is having the better season. NEMESIS, how could you say Chauncey doesn't elevate his teammates?!?! That is one of his biggest improvements, his assists! Rediculous. He makes all of the Pistons better. Honestly. I get heat for putting him at #2. He is having the better season. Period.
