"Are you going to see Kimbo Slice fight again in the UFC? Yes," Dana White said.

Asked if that was a decision based on the first episode's ratings, White said: "No, never. The ratings do not influence our decision. The guy can either fight or not."

White said one of the strongest endorsements he received about Slice's skill in the octagon came from former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, who's a coach in the show and told White he wants to continue working with Slice at his elite MMA training compound directed by respected trainer Greg Jackson in New Mexico.

"We've been very impressed with Kimbo's performance," added UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta.

Maybe Kimbo did make it to the Finals?

Re: It seems everyone is impressed with Kimbo

    Nice.

I'm going to edit this thread and put possible spoilers or something, just in case people don't want to read about impressive Kimbo.

I'm going to go ahead and posit that Kimbo lost. Why else would they build him up?

They [the UFC] are protecting his name value.

If he won they wouldn't need to say anything. The win legitimizes him, probably, depending on the manner of it.

If he lost, this way they can save face by saying "well he did lose but it was a learning experience and he's been doing all the right things" and so forth.

They are trying to maximize interest in this week's episode because it is the first and last fight for Kimbo on the show.

A trend with the show is to become more heavily focused on fighters who are about to lose, as we're less likely to deal with them much after that, then on those who win, who will have weeks/months more coverage leading up to the Finale. At least it's something I've noticed in past seasons.

Are you just suggesting that or do you know for a fact?

If he loses, I bet it is a close decision.

Also, I think the "you will see Kimbo fight for the UFC [again]" comment is for those who would stop watching should he lose. It's a bigger hint than anything else I've seen that Kimbo has lost. Maybe give them hope he gets in as an injury replacement or is ultimately offered a fight at the Finale (which I'm sure he has already).

Are you living in North America?

No idea if VA is a state, Virginia?

It's on TV right now on Spike TV, most Americans with Cable get it as I understand.

Well despite the show ending 8 minutes ago I think there is a youtube/dailymotion vid of the fight floating around somewhere, you might be able to google it.

Or wait 40 minutes and tune into Spike.

Roy Nelson was hardly even punching him. That fight was a huge disappointment after being very excited for the past week.

^ Yeah I was kind of unhappy with the way Roy chose to win. He even said it at the house--all he had to do was get Kimbo incapacitated and then just keep tapping him until the ref stepped in. He even got the guys cage-side to count out the punches. Seemed like Roy could've had mount and thrown some real punches down but he knew what he needed to do to win and just did that.

I personally don't think the fight should have stopped yet, the punches weren't hard.

Sure Kimbo wasn't defending himself, but let it go a bit longer, and let Roy get an easy sub if they take a toll on Kimbo.

At that point it was Roy's win though, even if it went further, he won round 1 and round 2, so it's not really a controversial stoppage or anything.

yeah. made for a shitty fight. seems like it wouldn't have taken much more to get into a position to just actually end the fight in a way that seemed more legitimate.

Yeah Roy definitely was in control, It was just frustrating watching Roy's fat lard lay on top of kimbo and tap him on the head

I would of liked to see Roy try out a new submission where he just suffocates guys with his big ass belly.

Hoping against hope he isn't attracted to skinny, young, white girls! :devilwink:

His fight in the early days of UFC was a real embarassment. He just got down on all 4s, and let his opponent punch him in the head. The guy couldn't knock him out, Yarborough refused to quit, and at the time, refs weren't supposed to stop fights short of a TKO. Thankfully, the ref bent the rules and called the fight, even though Yarborough was still fully conscious.
